NAPA can be considered the goat for the American wine country, but there are much less busy and more authentic experiences than, for example, Napa’s Cheesy Wine Train and Tourist Prizes.
NAPA was even named the most expensive American destination in 2018 and has since played Hopscotch on the same list.

While travelers may be thinking of Hollywood, paradisal beaches and the world-famous San Diego animal garden when it comes to holiday in southern California, there is a city full of chic chats and glamorous tasting rooms for a full of wine land weekend.
But company in the interior of the coast and you will find Temecula, “Napa” in South California – and it is only an hour away from numerous large airports.
Moreover, the neighboring city of Murrieta sneaks in its shade as one of the emerging hotspots in California, so you will never be without doing things.
Travel + Leisure names Temecula as a top Californian outing

Between wild flowers, shiny beaches and amazing national parks, Temecula was a big surprise to crack the top 5 destinations to visit in the golden state.
Travel + Leisure Crowned Yosemite as the best, but a few slots in Temecula defeated places like Santa Monica, Lake Tahoe, Santa Barbara and even San Diego, which is often the most popular springboard to get here.
What the ‘Top 25’ list did not make is NAPA, but there were a handful of other wine extraction behind Temecula, including Healdsburg (UHH, where?) And San Luis Obispo, another up-and-comer who is worth mentioning.

As far as Temecula is concerned, I had the pleasure of visiting for the first time in December and I never felt ashamed that I slept on this wealth of luxury wineries and picturesque streets of the old city just an hour from home.
Lush wineries and further: what to do in Temecula
A visit to the old city of Temecula is a must. This rustic, village-like region of the city is far removed from the bright lights of Hollywood just one hour and 15 minutes away (without LA’s headache-inducing traffic, of course).
Here you will find a mix of breweries, boutique shops, cozy wineries and historic inns along the old streets of the lively cityscape of Temecula.

But don’t allow yourself to sit here on a barrel here all weekend; Calling Temecula’s backroads. Here you will find some of the most lush wineries and holiday rental, some of which spit images of French chateaus.
One of the best ways to venture into the rolling hills of Temecula and the proliferation of vineyards can be booked by a wine tour. Moreover, you do not have to worry about paying too much for Ubers or assigning a designated driver.
Who wants to spit out the wine? Maybe the “hawk tuah” girl?
Tripadvisor Ranks these 3 tour operators as the best in Temecula:
- Dripping wine tours
- Socal Wine Tours
- Poppin ‘Wine Tours

When visiting Temecula, an attraction was told that I could not miss by several locals, Temecula’s popular Hot Air Ballon Rides.
Although it looks at the earth as if it is an ant farm, it is not personally something that I like, because I prefer Temecula Valley Ballon & Wine Festival Planned for 20-22 June 2025 network on time before Temecula’s unbearable 100-plus days in the heart of the summer.
Sorry, travel + free time! I believe Murrieta is the place to be
Murrieta is a small unsuspecting city, but offers relaxed luxury and the same rustic charm in his own district in the city center, although a pint-format version.

Although it does not offer the same wineries that Temecula has in the picturesque countryside, Murrieta has a handful of his own wine bars and vineyards where you can still enjoy Temecula crowned Local melanges such as Altisimas 2021 Petit Verdot.
Moreover, my favorite aspect of Murrieta is a double whammy – a renewed hot springs resort with one of my favorite restaurants that I have had in years, and it is also new.
In the past, a celebrity that was decades ago, eventually a Bible College, and eventually another resort, a newly launched Murrieta Hot Springs Resort is a must for the ultimate relaxing relaxing outing and it is seemingly hidden in the field of i-15 and a stone’s throw from Talloze Temeculijms.

Polish are open 24/7. Better yet, the resort offers 50% Cabanas at the pool and one free Day pass On your birthday, a common Maas in the law that want to enjoy all the health benefits of the Spa and geothermal sources without the hefty at night.
But the ultimate price is Talia -KitchenNot only the most trdles restaurant in the resort, but also a destination in itself for the whole of Socal.
Need a new date night spot? Talia Kitchen is worth the day of the Day of LA, Orange County and San Diego to get a little to eat from sensational, carefully manufactured dishes and an impressive list of regional wines.
For what it is worth, Travel + Leisure recommends it to Temeculas The new inn.
