Sometimes Americans ignore the miracles of Mexico, Thinking Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta the only beach destinations that are worth visiting.
Regarding the vast cityscapes of Mexico, Mexico City seems to be the exception to unwritten rules, because our southern neighbor is mainly presented incorrectly as a ‘dangerous’ country, while in fact a majority of violent crime takes place in specific regions outside the beaten track of hospitable locations.

After checking the 16th Mexican destination last week, I am here to tell you that not only the majority of Mexico is safe, it is a sensation to visit!
Whether it is about amazing coastlines with all-inclusive world class or few well-known gems that nestled the interior in the interior.
Yes, it is a difficult sale to lure Americans away from the Caribbean paradise of Cancun and the Cushy Luxury of Cabo, but what I am here to reveal are the 3 Mexican destinations that surprised me most – a trio of places I look back with pure genuine pleasure and would go back to again and again.
3) Chetumal: the ‘border city’ that you don’t know

Border cities have a bad reputation, especially in Mexico. It is safe to say that 99.9% of travelers are not on holiday in Juarez, Mexicali or Nuevo Laredo, but Mexico has a different border city near the domestic point of Quintana Roo with potential if there only knew more travelers.
Cuddling the Mexico-Beelize juncture is one of the biggest surprises in Mexico. Chetumal is a relatively small city Malecòn According to some of the most illuminous blue -tinted waters that you can imagine, and the house of perhaps the best I have had throughout Mexico.

Chetumal itself it is worth exploring for a weekend away, but if you want to stay longer San Pedro Belize Express To prevent the dilapidated, dirty-road town beyond customs (the first impression of Belize is not the postcards that we have all suggested).
But the real draw of Chetumal is a great basis for exploring Bacalarthe home base of the alien “lagoon of seven colors”, and nearby sleepy beach cities along the seemingly forgotten coast of Mexico, such as MahahualOne of my favorite coastal trips with cheap beach bars and cozy eco-lodges.
Unfortunately, there are no non -stop flights to the microscopic airport of Chetumal, but you can easily connect via Cancun or Mexico City.
2) Guanajuato: the timeless ‘European’ city of Mexico

I love Mexico City, Guadalajara, and even had a great time in Monterrey, but when it comes to exploring the urban pleasures of Mexico, Guanajuato is against them all.
Before you decide to book a trip, you must know that Guanajuato is both a state and a city. I am specifically talking about the city, because surrounding cities such as Leon have no great reputation.
On the other hand, San Miguel is remarkable and a safe haven for expats. I have discovered that Uber drivers are very helpful in navigating safe routes to prevent unnecessary conflicts between countries in Leon and to take you to Guanajuato or San Miguel without hitch.
If you land in Leon (BJX), which has non -stop flights from numerous American hubs such as Dallas, Houston and Atlanta, you want to take a short walk to the Oxxo -Supermarkt to take a Uber while taxis claims the airport sites.

From here it is about a 35 -minute ride to Guanajuato, where it suddenly feels that you went through a worm hole, coming up in a cityscape that clearly feels “European”.
Timeless paved streets and alleys stretch through a color wheel of hills full of top to bottom with cozy cafés, sensational dining options and charming boutique hotels. No, no name brands here.
One of my favorite stays in Mexico is to turn the former castle of Guanajuato – and it is incredibly cheap! Hotel Castillo Santa Cecilia is only $ 35 Booking This summer.
Save the Callejoneadas versions that you certainly encounter by chance, the great Mummy Museumcountless bars on the roof that are perfectly balanced Mezcalitasand above all, always Order the Salsa Rojo With Enchiladas.
1) Ixtapa: Do I dare to say that it is better than Cabo?

There is no beating Cabo-it ensures a great outing to relax in unparalleled luxury or to touch the city in the world-famous Cabo Wabo Cantina, in addition to other party-centric establishments.
But what I can’t handle is how Ixtapa has stayed still for so long. Given the state of Guerrero’s ‘Do Not Travel’ advice, it is really a diamond in the rough, with the reservation that Ixtapa and the neighboring Zihuatanejo are safe holiday destinations.
If that has been the deterrent factor, I am here to tell you It is safe. To be honest, you don’t leave the rows of luxurious all-inclusive resorts that you still spoil, such as, like BarceloWhere I stayed.
That is, unless you have the pristine coasts of Blue flag certified Playa El Palma, That front of those resorts.

Better yet, Ixtapa is the home of the Secret Island (Isla Ixtapa) that is also a must visit. The ferry that leaves Playa Linda only costs a few dollars (yes, guides accept dollars and will politely ask “to” for a tip), but once here, bullying sellers is minimal.
The waters are crystal clear for snorkeling and the ‘fresh catch’ seafood is spectacular.
