Arizona plates have already taken over San Diego Highways, which means only one thing – it is the unofficial start of the summer.
But this summer will be different from the rest, as perhaps the most long -awaited hotel in America is set for a soft opening May 15Followed by the official blue ribbon cut the following days.

No less than $ 1.3 billion was issued to not only bring the largest hotel on the west coast, but also the first refuge Chula VistaA less well-known city sandwiched between San Diego and the border with Mexico, and one of the last remaining parts of untouched land in southern California for a remote, paradisal escape.
As many holidaymakers are looking for Ritzy Stay in Coronado and del Mar and family -friendly pleasure in San Diego’s Mission Beach, it is actually Chula Vista that is intended to become the new summer vacation hotspot in California with the big opening of Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center.
Chula Vista? Where?

Usually tourists in San Diego stay centrally in and around Balboa Park or venture to nearby beaches or north to small beach cities or Legoland in Carlsbad, but few tourists even consider Chula Vista unless they pass to have a wild night in Tijuana on the border.
South Bay, as it is known, has not been a specific draw for outsiders, unless they have seen a viral taco standard on TIKTOK, have experienced a classic drive-in theater or wanted to see the famous “wall”.
Chula Vista has a beautiful bay with lush green parks and a lively marina, but not good beaches. Imperial Beach, the southernmost beach in the US, is more known for its dangerous circumstances as a result of sewerage from Mexico instead of how his postcard walk and the only other beach of South Bay, Silver Strand, is a beach run by the state with access costs, and yet there is nothing that can be spent to the State to be bacteria to bacteria.

As such, the South Bay did not have much point of sale until this month. The most striking sales argument for the upcoming big opening of the Gaylord is even Seven Mile Casino, a few blocks away, which gets his name from the 7-Mile ride to the center of San Diego.
So, the Gaylord is actually one of the most useful resorts for holidaymakers in San Diego, even though he is in another city.
The Gaylord Pacific: a destination in itself

According to the San Diego magazine, the Gaylord Pacific will debut 12 Restaurants. Unfortunately it is not all -embracing, but guests have a range of options from the dry experts Old Hickory Steakhouse With a sweeping view of the bay, Sushi To-Go at Taiyo So you snack the swimming pool or fuel for a sunny day The lazy riverand even Growlers Sports Bar & Taproom, with a 75-foot TV screen To see the big game in peace, away from noisy children.
Gaylord has something for everyone, but it is absolutely family friendly, with its 4+ hectare water park with slides, a golf swimming pool and a huge water playground.
Not that you would ever want to leave the resort site, just last month, Sweetwater Park Reopen to the audience with kilometers of pedestrian paths and cycling along the picturesque Bayside – the perfect place to take the sunset if you don’t want to make the 20 -minute drive to San Diego’s Sunset Cliffs.

The Gaylord offers a wide range of accommodations, from standard rooms with a view of the mountain, marina or Pacific to 89 spacious suites, including the chic Presidential suite With a balcony in the ocean view alone worth the towering price.
Grand opening weekend rates are as low as $ 350 per night, while the rates in the middle of the summer are in the $ 500.
What else to do in Chula Vista
As a resident of Chula Vista I have to say that I like to live here! Of all the places I have lived in San Diego County, this city is my favorite.

Instead of following the tourists who flood the Quarter gas lamp, view Chula Vistas Third Avenue DistricT, a pint-sized resistance of breweries, diving bars, cafés, food trucks, taco stores and my favorite restaurant in the city, Lime in coconut.
Eating in Chula Vista is a Maas in the law on your taste buds to enjoy Baja authentic flavors without needing a passport. There are countless hole-in-the-wall taco stands that operate Tijuana-style tacos and mulas, such as famous Tacos El Gordo, or you can compare Jalisco flavors with baja’s with new open opened El Pastor del Ricaowned by Champion Boxer Canelo Alvarez.

But Chula Vista is not just a place to eat; It is a very underestimated place to explore the outdoors. The further east you go, the more you want to come back to the coast to cool off during the summer months.
One of my favorite local secrets is Mountain Hawk Park In the Eastlake district of Chula Vista.
It has panoramic views of Otay more chased by the stunning mountain range of Otay.
