If you look like me and you’ve ever lived in a smaller city (Looking at your dayton), you probably looked at flight options and thought: Why are all affordable, direct flights only of large hubs?!
I can’t tell you how often I have made connections in Charlotte, Chicago or Miami …
Good, Allegiant Air Finally throws us a bone.
They have just rolled out 5 brand new non-stop routes that launched this fall and linked 8 cities to sunny destinations with warm weather. And the best part? One -way rates start super low! We have it here below $ 100.

I have always enjoyed how Allegiant skips the usual hub drama and goes directly to Non-Stop, Point-to-point flights.
No dragging your suitcase over terminals during a stopover or sprinting to catch a connection. You just jump up, zone out and zoom in to paradise.
This is what is launching, where you can go, and why I think this is one of the best autumn travel updates so far:

🌴 These new routes are your quick coupling to the sun
Start August 29, 2025people of South Bend, Indiana can catch a direct flight to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Imagine that you hit the beach in less than 3 hours, all for less than a big meal. Yes, please.
Fort Lauderdale is not only about sunshine and good beaches (although they certainly have it!).
It has a great food scene, miles of canals (they call it the Venice of America) and easy access to Miami.
View Las Olas Boulevard for shops and restaurants, or make a water taxitour through the waterways. And if you are looking for a super cool place to stay, the W Fort Lauderdale was one of my favorites in the area.

Then there is Tennessee:
- Memphis to Knoxville – launches September 4. Knoxville’s the Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains, so it’s perfect for a picturesque false escape. Don’t miss the market square for local food and live music, or go to IJams Nature Center For walking and paddling.
- Key West to Knoxville – Starts October 3. Flying from paradise? Yes. Landing somewhere that gives you walking, history and Tennessee BBQ? Also yes.

Now here is the one I am Real enthusiastic about –Gulf Shores, Alabama. It is one of those places that has always been a local favorite, but a little pain to reach … so far:
- Appleton, Wi to Gulf Shores (Guf) – start flights on October 2
- Des Moines, ia to Gulf Shores (Guf) – start flights on October 3
Gulf Shores just opened his brand new terminal Gulf Shores International Airport (Guf). It is the first time ever that the city has had a regular commercial service. So if you have ever done the ride of nine o’clock to get there, this is a huge upgrade.
Why Gulf Shores? Photo wide, white sandy beaches, gulf state park for walking and cycling, The hangout For eating beach and live music, and even Wildnative Dolphin Cruises if you feel extra adventurous.
I’ve already checked it out – you can book your flight here.

🏈 nfl -fans, this one is for you
Allegiant did not stop at beach discharges. If you are the type of person that your fall weekends in the NFL scheme are planning, they will launch limited flights to Las Vegas Just in time for game day.
I have it:
- Chicago to Vegas For the bears versus Raiders in week 4
- Nashville to Vegas For Titans vs. Raiders in week 6
- Akron to Vegas For browns vs. Raiders in week 12
These are weekend style flights. Go away before the game, come back after you have lost your voice.
It is such a smart setup, and if you have ever tried to book that last-minute NFL weekend flights, you know how chaotic (and expensive) they can get.
While you are there, Vegas is actually great in the fall.
Polar parties are still happening, restaurants are not that full and there is always something wrong. Catch a show like Absinthe Or hang around in a bar on the roof such as Skyfall Lounge. Even if your team loses, you are still in Vegas.

✈️ Why I really like allegiant
Look, Allegiant does not try to be your luxury airline. But if your main goal is to come from Point A to holiday mode Quick and cheap? It’s perfect.
They only do non -stop flights, they are based on smaller airports (which usually means less TSA drama), and they let you skip all the extras if you don’t need them. I travel light and I prefer to save money for tacos and margaritas when I land, so that works for me.
High-up-up, however: luggage and solar system costs extra, so skip the small print. You can get the full breakdown On their website.

🌍 Why is this such a victory
If you have postponed that beach trip or visits to family due to expensive rates or weird routes, this can seriously benefit you.
I see really potential for:
- Last-minute beach trips
- Long weekends
- NFL Game Day Adventures
And because you fly from smaller airports, the entire process is much less stressful. No crazy parking garages, not stuck behind the ten TSA riding strips.
I know that at the beginning of this article I was haliling at Dayton Airport, but I never saw that the TSA line contains more than 10 people, so there is something to be said for smaller airports!
The new routes are now live!
