Local companies and tourist officers are optimistic that the cleaner beaches will help increase tourist income that in previous years are hit. “We see more bookings and longer stay this summer,” said Angela Ramirez, a tourism coordinator in Oranjestad, Aruba. “Visitors are delighted to find our beaches clean and beautiful again.”

Various resorts have also increased the efforts in recent years to keep coastlines clean, with the help of both manual removal and environmentally friendly barriers to prevent Sargassum from reaching the coast.

To avoid disappointment, travelers are advised to:
