Alberobello
Italy is full of fairytale towns and villages, but… Alberobello is perhaps one of the most unique. Located in Puglia, it is known for its traditional trulli – funny-looking limestone houses with conical roofs. Travel back in time as you walk through the winding streets and admire the characteristic houses. Don’t forget to visit St. Anthony’s Church.
It is also a must-visit place for foodies. Puglia has great cuisine, and Alberobello is no exception. Try the local orecchiette pasta, zampina or bari focacia. The region is also known for fantastic wine and seafood.
Santuario Madonna Della Corona, Spiazzi
If you’re in Verona this summer, don’t forget to take a day trip Santuario Madonna Della Corona. Located on the edge of a cliff near Monte Baldo, this picturesque sanctuary is a popular pilgrimage destination and a place to enjoy a little peace and quiet in nature.
To get there, you can take a short walk from the small village of Spiazzi. It takes no more than 20 minutes and is relatively simple. It offers picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and you will also pass bronze sculptures by Veronese architect Raffaele Bonente.
Once you reach the top, you can explore the inside of the sanctuary or simply enjoy the tranquility of the place. There is also a small café with a terrace serving drinks and light meals.
Tavolara Island, Sardinia
This limestone massive island is located just off the northeast coast of Sardinia and is a paradise for all beachgoers, snorkelers and nature lovers.
Once you reach the island by ferry, settle on the iconic Spalmatore di Terra beach and then drift off into the crystal clear sea. On the other hand, those who prefer to be active will appreciate the great walks there. Please note that they are not for everyone: they all require a guide and good equipment, as most have some sort of abseiling and ferratas.
Are you in love with it yet? Unfortunately you cannot sleep on Tavolara Island. However, since it is not far from the main island, you can easily come again the next day.
The hot springs of Saturnia

Cima Cadin
Is hiking in the mountain landscape one of the items on your itinerary for 2024? The Dolomites are home to breathtaking hikes, including the one to Cima Cadin – a forgotten but majestic peak with stunning views.
It’s fairly easy to reach via the Via Ferrata Merlone, which has a wide network of ladders (we wouldn’t recommend it for complete newcomers, though). The walk starts at the refuge just below the summit and takes about 5-6 hours in either direction. If you continue your journey after that, we recommend staying a night – it’s pretty cute.
Cala Goloritze, Sardinia
Sardinia is known for its beautiful beaches, but this one seems out of the world and yet it is never too busy because it is protected. It can only be reached by walk or by boats, which must remain 200 meters from the shore so as not to spoil the beach.
A tall limestone peak rises above the bay, providing a beautiful backdrop for relaxing in the sand or taking photos. You can also get your adrenaline flowing by climbing to the top. On the other hand, the turquoise water is excellent for swimming, snorkeling and diving – the marine life in Cala Goloritze is very rich.
Scola Tower
Located in the Gulf of Poets, Scola Tower is a fascinating fortress that was built to care for the neighboring Palmaria Island. It was built in the early 17th century and remained in use until 1800, when it was badly damaged by the British during the Napoleonic Wars. It was then abandoned for years and scheduled for demolition. Fortunately, this gem was saved by Ubaldo Mazzini and eventually turned into an important historical landmark.
Today it is a sought-after sight for both locals and tourists. And while it can’t be visited, you can catch a glimpse of it or take a dramatic photo if you take the ferry to Palmaria Island.
