Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompsonthe Academy Award-winning director and drummer of The Roots, is set to debut a new documentary celebrating the musical history of Saturday Night Live. Titled “Ladies and gentlemen…50 years of SNL music,” the three-hour special, co-directed by Questlove and SNL’s Emmy-winning segment director Oz Rodriguez will explore the show’s archives. With sketches, iconic performances and interviews with more than fifty artists, the documentary promises a nostalgic journey through five decades of music. Questlove described the process of revisiting SNL’s archives as one “time travel experience.”
