For the first time in history, United Airlines are launching non-stop flights to the Algarve, a coastal area in the south of Portugal famous for its sun-drenched beaches, medieval cities and unspoilt nature.

This will make the region much more accessible to American travelers.

The Algarve is one of the most strendest summer destinations for Europeans, due to its sultry temperatures and affordable prices compared to Costa Brava or Mallorca in Spain and Côte d’Azur in France. Yet it has never recorded the gaze of the American carriers.

So far.

From May 21, 2025, just in time for the summer, United launches its inaugural newark -faro -flightsConnecting New Jersey and Metropolitan New York to the capital of the Algarve (and various other charming coastal cities to a certain extent).

The route would be launched in the spring of 2024, as we reported for unknown reasons at the time, it was postponed until 2025.

This time you can book with confidence, because seats are already being sold through United’s website.

The flights will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, so there are many seats available and fortunately for budget -conscious travelers, air rates are not that high compared to other ‘niche’ European Hubs United is flying to this year:

Although One -way tickets start at $ 596And you can certainly get cheaper rates that are connected via Lisbon from just $ 380, the real added value is the convenience of a non -stop flight, without unnecessary stops in Lisbon or Porto even further north.

Faro itself can own the ‘capital’ title, but it is really a sleepy medium-sized port around one walled old city Hardly any updates have been seen since the Middle Ages and where every narrow rose leads uphill to a square dominated by Cathedral.

About in an off-path loulé, you will find white-covered houses with colorful windows and door frames Painting hills and cozy family-ranking eateries that serve delicious seafood at reasonable prices – should be our favorite A Tia Bia And their characteristic pork cheeks.

If you fantasize about castles, the small village of Silves, nestled in the Algarve Hills, is the home base One of the largest medieval forts in the regionOriginally built by the Moors, and do not miss a pink Estói Palace, consisting of a baroque country house and symmetrical gardens.
