Justice Omoruyi had just packed a different photo shoot before ours took place. He and some friends were in the Sottan district in Manhattan and took pictures for CunyoutfitsAn Instagram account with the style of the students of the City University of New York, when we crossed paths on a Tuesday mid -April.
“We go through the city, take photos and just have fun,” said Mr Omoruyi, an 18-year-old mechanical engineering at City College in Harlem.
His style is influenced by his love of food, he said, and noted that he bought the bomber jacket that he was wearing his shirt and on the Grand Bazaar, a resale market on the Upper West Side. What Mr. Omoruyi likes thrifting is the journey that some items take before he finds them. “I could eat a shirt from Texas or Jersey,” he said, “because someone moved here and decided to give it away.”
