I have usually been a dar of that traveler, but there is one city that comes back to me every chance I get.
It is not only the nostalgia of the chosen vacation spot of my family growing up; It is the lively culture that the locals, sensational cuisine, a maze of wonders – welcomes – and I said Margaritas To-Go In almost every restaurant?!
How one of the biggest cities in America still feels like a hidden gem is beyond me, but that is the case for San AntonioTexas.
Although I had visited at least a dozen times, my most recent journey after a 10-year break revived my love for the fascinating history of San Antonio, Scenic River Walk, sensational barbecue and Mexican cuisine and apparently never end FiestaAn annual 11-day festival that has to be circled on your calendar every spring, which honors and celebrates heroes of the Alamo and the rich heritage.
This festive city is not just a non -stop FiestaSan Antonio has unexpected pleasures beyond the world -famous Alamo, such as HopscotchA trippy compelling art gallery that happens to be served a number of mean cocktails. If you thought Tequila and Mezcal were your favorite poisons, you haven’t tried Sotol yet.
Then it is clear White museum Full of surprises, where you will be welcomed in with a Pterosaurus on the ceiling – the nearest thing from San Antonio to Jurassic Park.
But before you look for the next flight to ‘San Antone’, make sure you have a City -testMy favorite way to explore the city. The pass is good for 9 days of easy access to 4 of my favorite attractions:
- The Alamo (Reservation required))
- Tower of America
- GA Rio River Cruises
- White museum
The Famous River Walk: Explore San Antonio’s Waterfront Wonders
To be honest, I went to 36 countriesAnd I can’t think of any comparison with San Antonio. This is largely due to his claim on fame – the winding Walk SIGNATION AND SHOOD BUT BEARD CITY, Where there is always something fascinating, regardless of the clock.
Places such as Indianapolis and Monterrey, Mexico, have their own interpretations, but they don’t hold a candle for the picturesque walking bridges of San Antonio along the river front made by humans.

The river walk extends for 15 miles or take it, but the heart of the action is Smack Dab Downtown.

San Antonio’s lively, magnetic culture
They say that “southern hospitality” is practically contagious in the south, but San Antonio deserves its own category.
I have been to 33 states and who knows how many cities, but San Antonio is perhaps the friendliest and most hospitable of all.
Since Silicon Valley Brats have invaded Austin and Dallas has not always been impressed with someone who does not control brand new shiny F-150, San Antonio is the antithesis for both, all O Haven or Real Heat.
Seriously, wherever I went, everyone was full of cheers like Christmas morning and could not have been nicer to be in the neighborhood.
While New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago all have their own unique charm, with dynamic knives of backgrounds and designated neighborhoods such as Little Italy, the culture of San Antonio is unparalleled, even with the south of the South, Miami and Charleston.

Do not allow some of the typical tourist traps that every city has, such as Margaritaville and Rainforest Café, to mask the true culinary soul of San Antone, because there are countless authentic restaurants along the river walk and speckled through the city.
Alamo legend Davy Crockett once said: “You can all go to hell and I go to Texas”.
Without taking a deep dive in the sense of this famous quote, if he was still alive today, I am sure that he would refer to the sinful delicious food scene of San Antonio, ranging from hissing Fajita cakes, fresh parties Guacamole, award-winning “Puffy tacos” and even more seductive margaritas, you can)
Not once was a meal here even sub-par during my recent 4-day trip. I have vomited to everything, from several dishes of the aforementioned Fajitas to flawless steak loaded with chimichurri and even delighted myself with fresh seafood, because Corpus Christi is only 2 hours away.
Sorted per neighborhood, every restaurant mentioned below is a real recommendation, but one long -term community of the community is undoubtedly a destination in itself with a background story that represents the heart and soul of the city with an impeccable matching dishes.
The Pearl District:
La Gloria -serves incredible ‘street food from Mexico’, and the Arrachera Molcajete justifies its almost $ 30 price tag; Their tajín-moved Mezcalitas were fantastic freshly mixed and to-go
Down on Grayson -A an informal meeting place to cool down with patio mills and a much needed break of overloading of Mexican food; Start with perfectly fresh onion rings, followed by steak chimichurri and the ultimate price, a slice of strawberry cake that is larger than the ego of my ex!
(Ask for the Delaney section; I guarantee that she is the best server you have in San Antonio)
Downtown/River Walk:
La Panadería -A line-out-the-door breakfast hotspot known for their long-breeding bread; Come early and happily leave after a dirty Chai Latte, Ranchero Eggs Benedict or chooses to ‘build your property torta!
Àcenar -The anti-tourist staircase of the River Walk for ‘bold flavors’, with ‘unparalleled view’; Grab a patio chair and view the action among everything while slurpin ‘Buttermilk-fed oysters to start, covered by sizzling crispy pig foyed fajitas
The airport:
Cabo Bob’s Burritos -Although there is Texas Favorite Whataburger at the airport, I recommend Cabo Bob’s Burritos a stone’s throw from Cabo Bob, with handmade flavored tortillas, juicy breast, signature Red 66 sauce, even their own soft drink brand; Chipotle would go bankrupt if Bob only knew more people!
The suburbs:
Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant Is a destination in itself. If there is one place you have to eat in SA, it’s Los barrios.
The Olive Garden must have stolen the expression “If you are here, you are family” by Diana Trevino, the current owner of what her deceased mother Viola Barrios had in mind when she transformed a former Dairy Queen Shack in what is now a thriving community that authentic ‘Texas Mexican’ cuisine serves over the rest of the Overhyped ‘Tex-Mex’ merger of the state.
It is not difficult to find out who is Diana when you come in and one is one decades of loyal customers who hug on arrival and kissed the cheek after leaving a sensational meal, just as if they came to Abuela’s Casa to be spoiled with soulful, secret-recessed comfort food.
And the evidence is in the pudding – Los barrios’ famous swollen tacos Beat Bobby Flay on the food network and even President Obama served During his presidency.
As great as the swollen tacos and sizzling shrimpfajitas, whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the chimichurri sauce. I could drink it with the bottle, but a marg-to-go is more socially accepted …
Marriott Riverscenter: the perfect basis for exploring San Antonio
Are you wondering where you can stay?
The Marriott RiverCenter Sit next to the RiverCenter shopping center and provides the perfect basis.
It is only one step of the River Walk, a block and half of the historic Alamo, and a short Uber ride to reach San Antonio’s most trdles, the Pearl District, full of cozy cafés, popular brewers, a farmer’s market and food hall and a few of my new favorite restaurants mentioned above.
I had a 17th floor King room with a radical view of the city that competes with that of the nearby tower of America.
While the infamous heat in Texas is taking up in the coming months, there is a shimmering swimming pool on the roof Waiting for you, that is partly inside and outside, so you can like to catch rays and go inside if it gets too hot to handle.
My suggestion? Grab a handmade cocktail to Go. TributaryLocated in the lobby and enjoy your afternoon bath, cooling in luxury.
