The announcement, shared on February 2, 2026, reflects a personal decision by the singer and host to step away from the daily grind and prioritize her children as she enters a new chapter of her life. Clarkson explained that the decision was motivated by her desire to prioritize her children and move away from the demands of a daily talk show schedule.

In a statement shared to her Instagram account, Clarkson, 43, expressed her deep gratitude for her time on the show while explaining why now feels like the right time to take a step back. “I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an excellent group of people on The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York,” she wrote, reflecting on seven seasons full of memorable moments and shared experiences.

Clarkson emphasized that the choice to end the show was not an easy one, but that shifting her focus to her family — especially after recent personal losses — was a priority. “Stepping away from the daily schedule allows me to prioritize my children, what feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” she said.

Why the decision now?

Clarkson’s announcement comes months after the death of her ex-husband. Brandon Blackstockwho died of cancer in August 2025 at the age of 48. The couple had two children, daughter River Rose11, and son Remington Alexander9, and Clarkson has often spoken about her role as a mother throughout her career.

For Clarkson, the daily commitment required to host a talk show has long been demanding, requiring a lot of travel and long production days. With her children at crucial ages and the emotional weight of the past few years, stepping back from the show allows her to be more present at home.

“The Kelly Clarkson Show” will complete its current seventh season as planned, with episodes airing through fall 2026. NBCUniversal confirmed that Clarkson will continue as host throughout the season, and that a series of guest hosts will join the show before the series finale.

Clarkson clearly reassured the audience that her departure from the show does not mean she is completely withdrawing from the public eye. ‘This is not goodbye’ she wrote. “I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you can find me on The Voice from time to time… you never know where I’ll appear next.”

Since its premiere in 2019 The Kelly Clarkson Show has become a fixture on daytime television, known for its warm mix of celebrity interviews, heartfelt conversations and viral music segments. One of the show’s most popular elements is “Kellioke,” in which Clarkson covers contemporary songs, often earning praise for her vocal interpretations.

Throughout its seven seasons, the show also received widespread critical and industry critical acclaim. It has won 24 Daytime Emmy Awards, including multiple consecutive wins for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Outstanding Talk Show Host. The series earned additional accolades from the People’s Choice Awards, Gracie Awards, Webby Awards and the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild, along with nominations from the Critics’ Choice Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards and GLAAD Media Awards.

The show’s impact was not limited to awards. It cultivated a multi-generational audience that tuned in both on-air and through social platforms, where clips regularly racked up millions of views. Combining music, candid conversations and light-hearted moments, the show helped define daytime television in the early 1920s.

For now, Clarkson’s focus will be on family and her personal life, a choice that many fans have met with admiration and support. As she closes the chapter on daytime television, her loyal audience is left with nearly a decade of memorable moments – both on stage and in the studio.
