Low-cost Play, an Icelandic airline, is offering flights to Britain and Europe for just $129 to mark the end of summer.
According to the airline, tickets, which must be booked between August 20 and September 4, are valid for departures from the United States to Iceland, Copenhagen, London, Dublin, Amsterdam and Glasgow from October through March 2024. Flights to Iceland start at $129 each way, while prices for flights to other locations start at $159 each way.
“Summer is coming to an end and now is the perfect time for travelers to book a mid-season getaway they can look forward to this fall or winter,” said Birgir Jónsson, Play’s CEO. T+L. “With PLAY’s flights to popular European destinations under $160, travelers can save on airfare and book the vacation of their dreams… off-season, avoiding crowds and saving their budget for the experiences that will make the trip memorable. ”
Flights can be purchased from a number of Play’s US gateway airports, including Washington Dulles International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and New York Stewart International Airport.
Flights booked around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are excluded from this promotion. All taxes, fees and airline fees are already included in the flight price.
Play launched its maiden voyage from the United States in 2022 and began flights in Europe in 2021. All of the low-cost carrier’s flights pass through Reykjavik before continuing to other European cities or returning to the United States as part of its “hub-and- spoke model”
The offer comes after a summer when international travel was incredibly expensive, especially when it came to tickets to Europe. According to travel app Hopper, flights to Europe are 7% more expensive than before the pandemic.
Excluding travel to Europe, domestic airfares are expected to fall 2% this month and remain stable through mid-September.
