The Green Mountain State of Vermont was recently rated the safest for female travelers according to a report from TrustedHousesitters.
Their 2023 Solo Female Traveler Report revealed the top 10 states that are best for solo female travelers and the small state Vermont took the number 1 spot. Pennsylvania comes in second, Delaware comes in third, while Rhode Island and Maryland round out the top five.
Taking into account several factors, safety is the most important and determining factor that has put Vermont at the top of the list. Traveling alone is daunting and the ability to explore the beauty of the state, known for its scenic rolling mountains and quality skiing in the winter, propelled Vermont to the top spot.
The data collected for travel safety in Vermont comes from the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
Other factors that helped determine the rankings included the state’s internet speed, and data from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission shows Vermont also ranked at the top, with access to 100 Mbps or faster broadband.
