Spring is about renewal and rejuvenation. This makes it the perfect time to tackle some of the more laborious chores around your home, like deep cleaning your bathroom. A task that can easily be put on the back burner!

Prepare equipment

Before you can start decluttering, cleaning, and decluttering, you need to make sure you have the right tools and products.

You’ll want to gather everything from cleaning wipes, sprays and disinfectant to your vacuum cleaner, dust cloth and maybe even an old toothbrush to really get into the nooks and crannies. It is wise to also have a garbage bag at hand.

If you don’t have everything you need, chances are you’ll put off deep cleaning your bathroom or you won’t be able to do your job properly.

Don’t forget your rubber gloves!

Tidy

The easiest way to declutter your bathroom is to remove everything from the surfaces. You can then throw away empty, old or expired products. You might be surprised how easy it is to collect them.

Cleaning the toilet

This is usually considered the worst part of cleaning the bathroom, but it’s essential to give your toilet a thorough cleaning every now and then.

It’s a good idea to scrub the inside of the bowl before leaving bleach, toilet cleaner, or another disinfectant in it. While that soaks, wipe down the outside of the bowl, as well as the seat and lid. It is good to also clean the tank of your toilet as dust can easily collect on it.

Don’t forget to flush the toilet to get rid of the cleaning solution inside – and while you’re at it, you might as well shine the handle!

Cleaning the shower and bath

Whether you have a shower and tub combination, a shower only, a tub only, or both separately, you need to clean them thoroughly.

When showering and bathing, be sure to scrub the walls and floor to remove soap scum and mold. Pay attention to joints and corners where mold and mildew are likely to accumulate. Make sure you also clean your curtain or door when showering!

It’s worth checking your shower head; If it is clogged, you can use distilled white vinegar to clear it. Also check your drains to make sure they are not clogged with products and hair. Give the faucets and faucet a good scrub to finish it off!

Cleaning the sink

It may be easy to get distracted by the larger elements of your bathroom, but your sink is just as important. If you look closely, you will probably notice splatters of toothpaste and soap staining the sides and even the faucet. With a thorough scrub and rinse, your sink will be clean in no time.

Be sure to check the drain too!

Don’t forget your floors and walls

With everything else to focus on, you might forget that even your floors need a cleaning. However, it is still important to give them some care and attention.

Take your bath mats and put them in the wash before sweeping or vacuuming your floors to remove any dust and dirt that has collected on your floors. Then give your floors a mop, but be careful with the amount of water you use as some materials are not waterproof or resistant. Bathrooms often use tiles or luxury vinyl floorswhich are quite water resistant.

Bathrooms are known as damp rooms. This makes them sensitive to mold and moisture. If you look around, you will probably see some of them on the walls and ceiling of your bathroom. It’s best to treat mold as soon as you see it because it won’t go away on its own. Plus, it can spread and cause health problems!

You can use household products such as rubbing alcohol, vinegar, and baking soda to treat minor fungal infections.

Spring cleaning your bathroom

Once you’ve cleaned your mirror, you can start putting everything back into place; replenishing toiletries and supplies as needed.

To keep your bathroom looking its best all year round, try to maintain a regular cleaning routine. This helps prevent the build-up of dirt and grime. Performing thorough cleaning periodically can also help maintain a hygienic environment.
