Fashion’s favorite spectator sport is the Met Gala. The guests are the “players” whose “statistics” are the times attended and what they wore. I want to believe that having this information organized and at hand is not just every archivist’s dream, but something that will appeal to all fashion fans. Here you’ll find Christy Turlington’s first known presence at the Met, in 1992, looking like a later Holly Golightly in a black Versace column with pearls around her neck; Linda Evangelista in Prada of course at the gala “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” in 2012; and Naomi Campbell on the 2017 red carpet in the Azzedine Alaïa dress she wore on the designer’s catwalk.
We’ll be adding something to this Met Modelpalooza every weekday until the first Monday in May, so watch this space.
