The Best Dressed Stars of the Week Retooled Hollywood Glamour

While the 2024 Met Gala, held last Monday in New York City, was the talk of the town this week, there were plenty of other dazzling red carpets to wonder about as well. The week’s best-dressed stars were those who embraced Hollywood glamor on the step and repeat, wearing designs that put an updated spin on both formal gowns and classic LBDs.

At this weekend’s Gold Gala, which honors Asian and Pacific Islander pioneers innovating across industries, Cynthia Erivo dazzled in a black Balmain top with sharp shoulders and a grape print skirt (perfect for summer). Mean girls star Avantika was also a vision, wearing a sculptural, floral Geyanna Youness dress. And just as racy was Meghan Markle, who showed up in Lagos dressed in a yellow sleeveless sheath dress by Carolina Herrera.

The week’s more subdued ensembles were no less elegant. At the GLAAD Awards in New York City, Jennifer Lawrence channeled Old Hollywood style with a plunging black Alaïa dress. For the LA premiere of Furiosa, Anya Taylor-Joy went for a vampy LBD: a leather mini dress from Acne Studios with a shaped bodice. Whether flowy or figure-hugging, all of the week’s best looks put an emphasis on sophistication—yes, even the moto dress.

What were your favorite celebrity looks this week? Vote below and come back Friday to find out which one Fashion readers crowned among the very best.
