As the fashion calendar turned the page on another whirlwind month, last week felt like a grand finale. The end of Paris Fashion Week signaled the end of fashion month, as a series of pre-Oscar galas, parties and industry gatherings set the stage for Hollywood’s biggest night. By the time the curtain fell on the Academy Awards on Sunday, it was clear that the final stretch of awards season had delivered some of the most memorable red carpet moments yet.
But even before the trophies were handed out, our favorite black male celebrities were already turning heads with head-turning style on every continent, from the front rows of European fashion houses to intimate pre-Oscar gatherings in Los Angeles. Throughout the week, the fashion story unfolded through a wide range of aesthetics: bold color statements, relaxed luxury tailoring and sharp red carpet minimalism. Together, these looks reflected the evolving language of modern menswear, where personality and precision collide.
The looks
At the Valentino Interferenze Fall/Winter 2026 Show, Colman Domingo delivered a polished yet relaxed front row statement that perfectly captured the theatrical elegance that comes with the house. He wore a vibrant red suede jacket over a black patterned shirt, paired with light blue straight-leg jeans and sleek black shoes. The statement jacket subtly nodded to Valentino’s iconic use of red while introducing a rich texture that elevated the entire ensemble. Balancing the casual ease of denim with refined outerwear, Domingo created a look that felt both effortless and intentional. Subtle jewelry and a black clutch completed the outfit and reflected the colorful spirit of by Alessandro Michele vision for the house.
In the meantime, LaKeith Stanfield leaned toward understated sophistication with a monochromatic ensemble Fear of God. The actor wore an oversized double-breasted beige overcoat layered over matching neutrals, styled with cropped trousers and pointed boots that subtly elongated his silhouette. The muted palette and relaxed proportions reflected the brand’s signature blend of high-fashion tailoring and streetwear ease. Stanfield elevated the look with understated accessories — a knit hat and dark sunglasses — that added a cool, effortless touch. As a result, the outfit became a masterclass in tonal dressing, demonstrating how minimalism can be just as striking as bold colors.
Finally, on Hollywood’s biggest stage, Michael B. Jordan delivered one of the evening’s most memorable menswear moments at the Academy Awards, where he took home Best Actor for his role in Sinners. Wearing a custom look from Louis Vuitton, Jordan opted for a sleek all-black ensemble, anchored by a sharply tailored jacket with a Mandarin-inspired stand-up collar and polished buttons. The sleek tuxedo pants and shiny patent leather shoes maintained a fresh, modern silhouette, while a subtle silver chain from his pocket introduced just enough contemporary flair.
