Springing on a bandwagon that is swept over the travel landscape, India is the newest that announces that it will introduce digital access forms as part of their mandatory border procedures.
As reported by VisasnewsOne of the leading and most reliable sources for access requirements worldwide, the South Asian destination is preparing to eliminate paper forms and launch a new online registration system in October.
This means that it holds a valid passport and a valid Indian visa is no longer everything you need to travel. This is what is expected to take place this fall at Indian airports, and what the new border rules are:

What is changing for travelers who enter India this fall?
2025 has been an unusual year.
From new digital visa imposed on Americans traveling to some of their favorite destinations, such as the VK and Saint Kitts and Nevis, to the rollout of the European EEs, making them fingerprint on arrival, it is definitely a much more complex world to navigate as a traveler than before.
Now it is India’s turn to participate in the trend because they confirm the planned release of a New ‘E-Arrival Card’. This differs from the Indian e-visa that Americans must apply for before they fly, but it will be just as mandatory.

For decades, the Indian Ministry of the Interior has commissioned airlines to distribute India to distribute papers dismissing forms to travelers prior to their arrival. These should be filled in the plane or in the immigration room before they speak with a border agent.
Travelers had to record important personal information, such as their full names and passport numbers, and the purpose of their visit and temporary address in India.
From October 2025, This paper form is gradually being replaced by the e-Arrival cardThat focuses on streamlining border control and reducing unnecessary delays in immigration counters.
How to get the Indian e-arrival card

An online portal for the new procedure has already been launched, on Indianvisaonline.gov.in/arrivalAnd travelers who fly on or after October 1, 2025 are advised to fill in the form via the official link.
They will not be denied exactly if they do not have an e-arcal card in hand at the check-in-officeThis is different from the Indian e-visa, That you absolutely need to get approved weeks prior to flying – but it will take them much longer to submit the information upon arrival.
In other words, they will be stopped at the Indian border until their e-arcal card has been submitted and approved, and know how these digital forms work, and how they not Sometimes work, you can be there for several minutes or even hours.
Advice? Only leave it at the last minute.

How does the e-arrival card work?
Here is how it will work:
Within five days of your planned arrival in India you are eligible to request the e-arrival card. On the official website you will be asked to submit the following information:
- Full name
- Nationality
- Passport number
- Purpose of visitors (for most Americans this would be ‘Toruisism’)
- Arrival date in India
- Countries visited in the past 6 days
- Address in India (if you stay at multiple addresses, including one address is usually fine)
- E -Mail address
- Contact number
- Emergency contact number

Once the application has been submitted, You will receive a confirmation email (We still do not know at the moment whether it contains a QR code or not).
More likely than not, you must present this confirmation, together with your Indian e-visa for tourism, or another type of Indian visa and your valid passport on the border.
At the moment the e-arcal card is in its ‘beta version’. This means that it is now only intended for ‘testing’, so completing it is not mandatory.
