The company, which he founded together with an old music manager Jimmy Iovinehad become one of the most recognizable audio brands in the world before Apple acquired it and later integrated it into the Apple Music ecosystem.
At the time, Dr.’s statement caused Dre made headlines throughout the music industry. Still, analysts later pointed out that the producer’s actual revenue from the deal did not immediately put it above the billion-dollar threshold. More than a decade later, Forbes’ latest calculations show that Dr. Dre has grown enough to officially classify the producer as a billionaire.
