Jaden Smith made his official debut as men’s creative director at Christian Louboutin during Paris Fashion Week FW26, where he unveiled his first collection for the French luxury house. The presentation marked both a personal milestone and a strategic shift for the brand, introducing Smith’s vision without relying solely on spectacle. Instead, the focus remained on form, material and conceptual references that extended far beyond shoes.
Unveiled via a red-lit installation, the collection combined shoes, accessories, photography and film into a cohesive visual experience. In doing so, it offered a clear first look at Smith’s creative direction at Louboutin, one rooted in historical labor, altered silhouettes, and utilitarian design.

Jaden Smith’s appointment as men’s creative director at Louboutin, announced in 2025, placed him among a growing wave of musicians holding senior creative positions within luxury fashion. Paris Fashion Week FW26 was the first opportunity to see how his perspective would translate into product rather than personality.
In an official statement released alongside the collection, Smith quoted “the history of working people through the ages” as an important source of inspiration, referring to professions such as stonemasons, scribes and doctors. At the same time, he framed the collection through cosmic images and described it as something shaped by time, pressure and craft. Together, these ideas shaped both the visual language of the presentation and the physical construction of the designs.
Shoes that rework familiar shapes
Shoes remained central to the debut, although the designs consciously moved away from traditional notions of elegance. Various styles reinterpreted classic Louboutin silhouettes by distorting their structure or surface. Loafers were combined with sandal elements, while boots appeared with melted finishes or perforated uppers that evoked erosion and wear.

Among the most talked-about pieces were extra-tall silver cowboy boots that were much larger than standard proportions, as well as a boot completely covered in long red hair, prioritizing texture and movement over conventional wearability. Tactically inspired boots with astronaut-like references further amplified the tension between historical work and futuristic imagery.

Despite their unconventional appearance, the shoes remained based on construction and craftsmanship, in keeping with Christian Louboutin’s reputation.
Accessories rooted in utility and image

In addition to shoes, Smith expanded the collection to include accessories that relied heavily on function and symbolism. Leather bags had exaggerated external pockets displaying intended contents, such as ‘keys’, ‘coins’ and ‘charger’, making daily organization a visual statement.

Elsewhere, the bags were finished with grayscale photo prints showing faint crowds. These images reflected the broader visual language of the presentation and were inspired by early photographic techniques from the 19th century. As a result, the accessories felt suspended between modern utility and archival memory.
Presentation as part of the message
The immersive environment, consisting of installations, film and photography, was integral to the collection’s story rather than decorative. The images reinforced the themes of time, distortion and texture, reflecting both the photographic elements of the accessories and the altered shoe silhouettes.
Approaching the debut as a multi-layered experience, Christian Louboutin positioned the collection not simply as a seasonal offering, but as an introduction to Jaden Smith’s long-term vision for the direction of the house’s menswear.
What the debut signals are

Jaden Smith’s first collection for Christian Louboutin doesn’t try to redefine the house overnight. Instead, it establishes a clear design language based on historical references, changing shapes and a willingness to challenge conventional ideas about luxury footwear.
By expanding his focus to include accessories and presentation, Smith made it clear that his role goes beyond just shoe design. For Christian Louboutin, the debut signals a broader, more exploratory approach to menswear, balancing heritage with experimentation.
