Fashion Week remains one of the most exciting times in the style calendar, not only because of the collections themselves, but also because of the way men from the worlds of music, sports and film step into the global spotlight, dressed as if they belong on the catwalk. ‘Tis the season when pieces straight from the catwalk escape the shows and find a real context – on red carpets, city streets and stadium tunnels – worn with personality, confidence and a keen understanding of personal style.
Last week, Paris Men’s Fashion Week was firmly at the center of this energy. The French capital was buzzing with celebrities who moved seamlessly between shows, presentations and after-hours moments, with each performance doubling as a masterclass in modern menswear. Designers sent out bold ideas, and black men from across industries picked them up and interpreted the looks in ways that felt lived-in rather than costumed. Yet Paris wasn’t the only stage worth seeing. From pre-match tunnel walks and rival runway finals to high-profile television premieres, black men had plenty of reasons to show up and show off. Above all, the common thread was the intention.
The looks
At the Los Angeles premiere of Wondermanone of the evening’s most sophisticated red carpet moments came courtesy of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The actor arrived in a sleek, all-black Zegna ensemble that leaned squarely toward quiet elegance. Anchored by a collarless jacket that was neatly cinched at the waist with a fabric belt, the look created a sculpted silhouette that felt both contemporary and ceremonial. Paired with flowing black trousers and polished black shoes, the outfit allowed impeccable tailoring and understated detailing to take center stage. All in all, it was an understated yet powerful choice that fit perfectly with the prestige of the Disney+ debut.
Meanwhile, in Paris, Davido delivered a fashion week moment that was impossible to ignore during the Amiri Men’s presentation. He stepped out in a rich, retro-inspired look that balanced rockstar energy with runway sophistication: a brown velvet zip-up jacket, subtly embellished with glittering details, layered over a deep red turtleneck. Custom flared trousers sharpened the ’70s silhouette, while tinted sunglasses and layered jewelry completed the statement. Bold, luxurious and unmistakably Davido, the outfit captured Amiri’s lead as she turned heads on the streets of Paris.
Elsewhere, the runway extended into the sports arena, such as Wil Anderson Jr. proved once again that pre-match tunnel walks remain one of the most fascinating phases of menswear. For the divisional round, he opted for a sophisticated, high-fashion ensemble that combines modern luxury with effortless confidence. A burgundy Jil Sander jacket over a textured Maison Margiela sweater set the tone, paired with matching Margiela pants for a sleek, structured finish. Sleek black Dior boots completed the look, while a Louis Vuitton bag and dark LV glasses added a composed, practical touch.
