The experts claim that “Midwest is the best,” but is that just because it’s a catchy rhyme?

Among so many underrated cities that are often overlooked for the coastal appeal of sun, sand and ocean breezes, much of the Midwest lies by the wayside.

With the exception of Chicago, travelers are missing out on some of the best fall vacations in the central US, where fall colors transform the city skyline and the treetops park for miles.

One such place is overlooked even in their own state, let alone the entire Midwest region.

Forget Cincinnati and even trendy Columbus and head out Cuyahoga Valley National Park for epic waterfalls and a scenic fall train ride through a stream of vibrant foliage.

50 years of amazing nature all year round, but autumn is the best!

Located between Cleveland and Akron, Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of the Midwest’s most serene destinations to immerse yourself in fall splendor.

In honor of the 50th anniversary since its designation as an official National Park, the National Park Service (NPS) announced: ‘50 new ways to experience‘ this magical hidden gem.

However, fall is when the crowds increase.

The NPS recommends visiting as early as possible on weekdays or taking a drive later in the day to increase your chances of finding a parking spot.

Go hunting for waterfalls! Cuyahoga Valley has more than fall colors

Majestic waterfalls often seem like a distant dream to achieve, but that is not the case at all.

Sure, you can fly to natural wonders like Iceland, or maybe visit cheap, lavish attractions like Niagara Falls, but there are actually many other places with similar scenery hidden in our National Parks – Cuyahoga Valley is one of them.

There are at least 8 notable waterfalls that are well worth a visit within the park grounds.

According to the Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, these waterfalls are the 5 most visible for your next fall adventure:

  2. Bridal veil falls
  3. Alexander falls
  4. Deer lick cave area
  5. Mudcatcher Falls

That being said, Brandy falls is usually at the top of the list for visitors.

Plunging nearly 70 feet into a scenic gorge, this gushing waterfall offers both high and low views and has received rave reviews from recent visitors, including: “This is an amazing waterfall. The boardwalk and stairs seem fairly well maintained. It’s plenty wide enough for people (and their pets) to walk in any direction. The falls themselves were very scenic.”
