The chance of visiting more than 1000 Alpine Lakes sounds like you have to go to Finland or Switzerland to reach such a place that radiates the majesty of nature, but it turns out that you don’t have to take a long way away.
Wyoming is perhaps known for abandoned roads, cowboy culture, beautiful national parks and one of the trendy mountain cities of America (Jackson Hole), but what it is not so well -known are somehow shine through the cracks of travelers’ routes.

Apparently boundless nature awaits in a charming hiding place directly from a classic western who have overlooked guides.
There is no doubt that travelers will flow to Jackson Hole to enjoy cooler weather, autumn magic and fewer crowds, but the high prices of this popular outing linger along what most would expect to be their expiry date at the end of the summer.
The home base of a rustic resistance of a pint, more affordable stay and 1,300 lakes around the city, nearby map-dot Pinedale Is the perfect alternative to enjoy just as amazing nature and wallet-friendly costs this fall.
“This city is not big enough for both of us!” – Actually it is …

The little -known city of Pinedale Is high in an alpine valley surrounded by a trio mountain ranges.
Considered as part of the ecosystem of Greater Yellowstone, you can imagine the beauty at the next level without having to navigate tourists.
You can enjoy a range of outdoor recreations of fishing, horse riding, walking, rucking and rock climbing.
If you thought the ‘Wild West’ was a long era, Pinedale considers a unicorn because old traditions and lifestyle are still greatly appreciated here.
If you squeeze hard enough, you can still see remains of history from the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade era that gave this city its start (although officially founded in 1904).

A good example would Green River DriftAmerica’s oldest and longest animal husbandry that is ashamed of Fort Worth’s Stockyards in June and October.
But you don’t have to wear your shiny pearl snaps or best pair of wreath to fit around these parts.
With Jackson Hole so close (90 minutes away), the local population of Pinedale will gladly show off their beloved hometown with an old -fashioned welcome before everyone’s eyes were glued on their phones.
Whether you are here for your love for horses, the outdoors, or just rest in search of peace and quiet away from the city line, Pinedale taps from every box and more.
Welcome to the Land van Meren van Wyoming‘

According to Visit Pinedale, their claim on fame is known as ‘Land of Lakes’ of Wyoming. How cannot it be surrounded by an incomprehensible 1,300 different Alpine lakes to choose from?
Although I am not paid enough to dive deep into all 1,300 options for your people, it is probably not possible that your attention span can handle that, because we have all got used to fast Tiktoks, there are a few lakes that clearly stand out among the rest.
Circled back to Pinedale’s trio of mountain ranges, it is the Wind River Range of the Bridger Wilderness Area with more than 1000 Alpine lakes that shine with liveliness and invite you to an abundance of activities – not to mention the curtain of forestry with trap coloring.

Pinedale does not require much, but a feeling of adventure is not optional. Some lakes are only accessible by walking, and some are more rewarding with waterfalls in the cirque of the towers.
Don’t forget – the edge of the city is the textbook definition of “Wild”.
Fremont Lake Is one of the most accessible. Located only 5 miles outside Pinedale, it has a designated swimming area and sandy coasts to explain (but autumn is a bit nippy).
Green River Lakes Is more a trek and fits on the mold like a real destination on the road trip to about 50 miles from the city.
Half Moon Lake Is the dream of an outdoor person with well -filled waters of brown, rainbow and more forel and serene swimming areas on the foothills of the Wind River Mountains, about 11 miles from Pinedale.

Travel tip: paths are the most navigable July – September. Snow is usually absent from July – October.
Stay for a while: Pinedale defeats Jackson Hole every day
Like a hidden gem, you can book a stay in Pinedale all 4 seasons. In fact, they embrace their seasons for what they are.
Spring is, for example, for picturesque walks with unparalleled views, summer is for swimming, autumn is for cozy campfires and horse rides, and winter the real adventure begins with exciting excursions such as snow scuring and porridge.
The most striking is that every season is affordable here. That cannot always be said for Jackson Hole. Accommodations can be booked for a fraction of the price because Jackson Hole has become a luxury escape, even for A-Listers.
