Where in the world is Vlora? The new Vlora airport will open in March 2025The call for digital nomads in AlbaniaSUBSCRIBE TO OUR LATEST POSTS

There’s no shortage of paradises to choose from for digital nomads to pack their bags and fly to, but there’s one more to add to the list, with a new airport expected to bring this coastal gem to life card will set.

The Mediterranean is teeming with blue-water coasts and laid-back communities that embrace the nomadic lifestyle, but not all of them can be crowned Europe’s best.

Vlora, Albania beach

Fortune just released their ‘Best European Cities for Digital Nomads 2024’ list and the top dog was a real surprise.

Albania has seen an influx of digital nomads since issuing an unofficial visa for digital nomads in 2022, but many have chosen to settle in the capital Tirana, among other scenic beach towns.

One of them is an absolute stunner, Vlorë. But we’re going for the English version, Vloraso I don’t have to keep entering those strange points.

Where in the world is Vlora?

Vlora is Albania’s third largest city, situated along pristine coasts overlooking the Bay of Vlorë (those pesky dots again!), a passage that’s almost a straight line away from Italy’s trendiest escape, Lecce.

But this side of the route will soon be Albania’s trendiest escape, as the country continues to gain momentum, largely due to more hidden gems like Vlora being uncovered.

This beach town is brimming with potential as there are already plenty of luxury accommodations to enjoy for a serene vacation, but more importantly, condos can easily be scored for $400 per month.

Surrounded by more turquoise than a chain of Santa Fe, this beautiful town is truly postcard perfect as you laze on one of the many idyllic beaches once you’re free from unnecessary Zoom calls.

According to TripAdvisorthese are the three best beaches in Vlora to explore:

  1. Gjipe beach
  2. Dhermi Beach
  3. Pulabardha beach

Being a fairly large city, Vlore is decked out with charming Old Town cafes and co-working spaces, such as Top Class CoWorkingVlorajust a few blocks from the scenic Lungomare promenade.

While there has already been an increase in the number of remote workers moving here, expect even more comfortable amenities to appear once Vlora’s long-awaited new airport opens.

It is important to note that not all of Albania is well developed. In other words, the side roads should be left to the pros.

It will be so much easier to reach Vlora March 2025 when the new airport will be put into use for the first time.

Albania’s flagship Air Albania is leading the charge and you can certainly expect other suitors as well.

When Ryanair launches flights to Dakhla, Western Sahara, don’t you think Vlora will be on their radar?

For now, the easiest way to reach Vlora is by car bus from Tirana, a well-connected city now that the hype in Albania has skyrocketed.

For a more adventurous option, you can also fly to Corfu or various Italian ports (Bari, Brindisi and Lecce, as previously mentioned) and take a ferry.

Although it might be wiser to simply wait for more news about Vlora’s new flights.

Albania as a whole is an amazing mix of cultural experiences, cheap living and boundless natural beauty. Oh, and the food is pretty top notch and also on par with Greece’s most notable dishes.

There are countless reasons for general travelers to visit, but digital nomads can reap the most benefits here.

Albania’s nomad-provided ‘Unique Permit’ was a nice selling point for remote workers, but what you might not know is You don’t need a visa at all for up to a year.

That’s right; American tourists can stay within the Albanian border up to 12 months without the hassle of bureaucratic paperwork – just a stamp and you’re good to go.

The Unique Permit is a simple application process and offers nomads the opportunities to do so stay for a maximum of 5 years.

Limit to Vlora; there is no better place to call home.

With $400 apartments, comfortable co-working spaces and delightful cafes in one of Europe’s most underrated old town areas, your daily backdrop couldn’t be more enchanting as you stroll through timeless streets or enjoy a beach day.
