Do you think you know North Carolina? Think again.
As coordinated when we are at Travel Off Path in the Travelverse, we declared none other than Cary as the emerging destination of North Carolina last year.
That does not mean that Cary is a guy in 2025, but more insight has come directly from the mouth of the TAR HEEL-State and reveals a unsuspecting mountain city as the new place of NC.

Whether you are still plans for a last-minute summer trip if you are already immersing your toes in the water for a weekend away in the fall, little known Bean Is hyped over the rest of the abundance of hotspots from North Carolina, even if Asheville tries an epic comeback.
The Charlotte ObserverThat absolutely knows something about the width of their state’s attractions, is this old rustic hiding place with cozy lodges and general stores in the vast Blue Ridge Mountains, you should be the next vacation.
Asheville’s best alternative?
We have treated countless Asheville -Dupes over the years, since the most trendy city in North Carolina is known that it sees an increase in crowds from time to time.

Of course there is certainly an argument that Asheville needs more visitors, because natural disasters destroyed parts of the city, so that tourism is ultimately deterred for a long stretch.
Although Asheville claims to be back in business, there is no reason to set up your adventurous cap and to explore more of the lesser -known of North Carolina.
Boone is the same parts college Town and Blue Ridge Nature Hub. The home base of Appalachia State University, you might find an increase during Fall Home Games, but that is all the more reason to immerse yourself in the mountains on numerous paths, parks, fish excursions, river rumors and retreats that boone has to offer.

It is not denying Asheville’s attraction, whether they are quirky stores, sufficient breweries and amazing nature in itself – Boone also checks all these boxes, plus it is cheaper!
With less hype and less crowds, Boone is certainly a great option for authentic charm and affordability of a small city.
Rustiek meets Ritzy: no shortage of domestic Shelter
Is there not something magical with a fire place, Rockin ‘your best flannel and takes the crispy mountain air?
That is a huge sales argument for Boone in the fall. Although it is certainly not too late to enjoy a summer trip before university football fans increase hotel costs.

If you are already looking for a valve snapping, this is a good time to book your accommodations. The Charlotte Observer recommends the following hotels, but I also have one in my sleeve …
- 1850 Hotel -A beautifully restored hotel with 20 suite on the picturesque main resistance, King Street (Perfect 5.0 Google Rating!)
- Rhodes Motor Lodge – Perhaps Boone’s most nostalgic stay Vintage Classic Motor Inn -Vibes combines luxury facilities
- Westglow Luxury Resort & Spa (Not technically in Boone) – Registered by National Register of Historic Places in nearby Blowing Rock, which is provided for criticism for his spa treatments
How Loville House Inn Their top 3 stays are not cracked, I am over. This impeccably preserved building dates from 1875.

It has since been converted into a perfectly rated (5.0 on Google) place to stay with benefits such as a self-service bar, 11 forested hectares to escape from the bustle of the city, and some rooms have fireplaces to become cozy.
Chances are that if you book soon, you will find very reasonable rates across the board before the football season starts.
Fly inside or drive in: just go here
Boone is a city of around 20,000 inhabitants and has no own airport. Asheville is just a 2-hour drive, but Tri-cities Regional Airport (TRI) in Blountville is half an hour closer and the news broke out in recent days that Breeze Airways is launching New flights here.
Travel tip: Make sure you view the new Jetlag Fixer Tool from Travel Off Path to help with your next flight!

It doesn’t matter if you are flying inside or not, you definitely want a vehicle.
The almost 500 miles long Blue Ridge Parkway Is known as “America’s favorite drive”, which swears through valleys and winding backs.
Just know that some parts of this picturesque drive are still being rebuilt after Hurricane Helene, but a few detours simply contribute to the adventure, because you could walk through card cities that you would otherwise not know.
