While I usually advocate that travelers book their trips well in advance, there are some special cases where waiting is the best thing you can do to save some money on that dream vacation of yours.

Case in point: Airfares to five of the world’s most beautiful sunny destinations have hit their annual low, so if you were hoping for a last-minute beach vacation in October, congratulations!

You can score some serious deals.

And if you’re not quite sure where to go this fall for some much-needed sunshine, consider this your inspiration too, because the places below are the kind of destinations every traveler wants to experience at least once a year. a lifetime.

Cancun, Mexico

According to SkyscannerRound-trip tickets between the US and our all-time favorite Mexican city start at just $176 this month, and while that’s just a one-way route departing from Fort Lauderdale, most people across the country can still cover all their airfare costs for less than $400 – it’s a great deal any way you slice it!

And if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed or rushed and don’t want to pack your bags just yet, don’t worry.

November offers some similarly great deals, so you can take your time choosing a hotel and planning an itinerary – you’ll still manage to escape the summer/winter peak.

And I’m not just talking about airline ticket prices here; A visit to Cancun now that the crowds have diminished and Playa Delfines and Playa Tortugas are not massively overcrowded is truly a dream come true.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

I know Punta Cana has been all the rage in recent years, but right now we’re focusing on the beautiful capital of the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo is as rich in history and culture as it is in modest but inviting beaches, which, by the way, are much cleaner and more peaceful this time of year.

The best news of all, though, is that you can fly to the Caribbean gem and back this month for just over $200 – the starting price for economy flights in the summer is over $450, so imagine how much space has just been freed up in your hotel – and entertainment budget!

Santa Martha, Colombia

Continuing to a lesser-known hub, Santa Marta is one of Colombia’s best-kept gems.

At this time the city is officially entering the dry season, so you can fully enjoy Playa Blanca and Tayrona without having to worry about the weather (most days temperatures are also around a comfortable 82.4 F or 28 C) .

More importantly, not only is this one of the most affordable destinations you can visit in Colombia and beyond right now, but flying in and out of the city is also the cheapest.

Right now, roundtrip flights start at just $274, and November will likely see similar prices.

Be warned, though: as Santa Marta enters the dry season, airfares will inevitably increase, so you’ll want to act quickly.

Krabi, Thailand

If you want to experience some of the world’s most breathtaking views this fall and are willing to fly across the globe to do so, there’s no better destination for you than Krabi.

This often overlooked Thai gem promises all the allure of Phuket and even the Maldives (yes, you heard me right) without the crowds and for a fraction of the price.

The only catch: flights to and from Krabi can get a bit pricey, I’m talking thousands and thousands of dollars.

However, there is a time of year when a round-trip ticket falls under the $1000 limit, and that time is now.

Those flying out of LA in October and November can pay for their trip to Thai paradise with as little as $998, and when you see what you pay for food, lodging, and activities once you get here, it all feels like a bargain!

Bali, Indonesia

I’m not going to dwell too much on Bali because it’s one of those places that doesn’t need much of an introduction – chances are you’ve dreamed of coming here at least once in your life.

Well, this could be the perfect time to finally make those plans of yours since October come true. You can fly to the iconic Indonesian province and back for just over $700 – I guarantee you won’t be able to find a better deal than the rest of the year.
