Robert Geller made his coming out as Rag & Bone’s Head of Menswear during the brand’s resort engagements in 2025. The German-born designer, who was a 2010 CFDA/Vogue finalist and 2011 emerging winner of the CFDA menswear designer, moved to Portugal after closing his eponymous brand in 2019. “There weren’t many brands that could have brought me back to New York, but this one is special,” Geller explains. “My brand was always next to Rag & Bone in all the stores, so I knew it so well. Plus, Rag & Bone has such a rich history that I understand it. I know what it should look like and the archive I can draw inspiration from.”
Geller has been quietly working at the brand since September last year. You could see some of his touches in the Fall 2024 collection, including a sportier version of the pants with a wider jogger fit and an update of the best-selling Manston bomber jacket in a vintage terry cloth fabric that still gives the oversized boxy look of the original but with more factor. “This idea of comfortable layers was very important to us,” he said.
Geller also wants to make Rag & Bone’s tailoring a little more fashionable. Traditional tuxedo jackets are shortened for a boxer fit and vests are made of a sturdier wool fabric so they can also serve as a top layer. He promises that more adjustments will be made in the future. “My goal is to modernize it, take it forward and also highlight the things the brand has achieved over the years.”
