After a summer full of high-profile SAG-AFTRAs, including a lack of red carpets for blockbuster films like Barbie– the Golden Globes mark our first major return to Hollywood events. And the world is ready for (please, God) some glamour.
“People need some excitement,” says hairstylist Gregory Russell, whose Golden Globs clients include Jennifer Lawrence and Ludwig Goransson. “I expect a return to glamour, such as classic Hollywood looks with a modern, minimalist twist.”
Nail artist Mazz Hanna predicts that art will continue to make a statement next season. “Delicate nail art was very popular on the red carpet in 2023,” she says. But don’t discount the “old money” nail trend that Jennifer Lopez has been wearing lately—that’ll show up on the numbers, too.
Maria Philipswho popularized the under-painting technique (think of it as the old-school approach to contouring), agrees with Russell’s prediction that classic glamor will return in 2024. “I expect to see timeless, elegant beauty on the red carpet,” says the makeup artist. , whose clients include Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, says Fashion. “The kind of looks where the glamor is so intricate and perfect that it looks understated and effortless.”
It’s all giving: we’re just happy to be here. “I’m just excited to be working with some of my favorite artists again,” Emma Stone’s hairstylist Mara Roszak adds. “2024 is the year of hair health and I expect to see a fresh, clean look. Nothing overly complicated.”
“A lot of people don’t take into account the impact the strike had on the industry, except for the actors and writers,” Hanna adds to the conversation. “Everyone from producers to agencies and caterers was hit hard. I’m especially excited about bolder and more innovative nail designs that reflect the resilience and creativity of the industry in a post-strike world.”
