The dress is made of nude and black tulle and covered in more than 100,000 black and copper beads and sequins, which were hand-embroidered over 500 hours. Not only is it an impressive piece of work, the cutouts at the waist and regal, sculptural collar and shoulders make it a true work of art. “Whatever Kendall does with her style, it has to appeal to her; the look has to come to life,” says Michelle. “We saw such a story behind the dress and the darker queen of one Sleeping Beauty story.â€
Vintage was a particularly inspired choice – and a huge boost on Jenner’s part – for the ‘Sleeping Beauties’ exhibition, which aims to explore how we can deal with clothes we can no longer wear. Once Jenner learned about the 2024 Met Gala theme, she saw it as an opportunity to delve into her love of vintage and create an opportunity to wear pieces that speak to her. “The theme screamed archive to me,” says Jenner, adding that she also interprets it as “beauty that has been slept on.” Plus, “the way it’s cut out in the back.” , and the low butt – all these beautiful things feel very me.â€
