Reaching the beautiful Riviera Maya is now easier than ever. On March 31, Tulum International Airport (TQO) celebrated the arrival from the very first A United Airlines nonstop flight from Houston.
This first flight carried 146 passengers and was followed by a sister flight from Newark/New York.
But that is not everything. United also starts nonstop flights from Chicago on Sunday. With this addition, the airline will connect Tulum to a total of eight U.S. cities.
In this way, United joined American and Delta, which also began flights to Tulum on March 28.
Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport, located 90 miles from Cancun and 18 miles from Tulum, will give Americans a whole new access to the internationally renowned Riviera Maya.
“Tulum tops many travel lists: great beaches and restaurants, and a region rich in history and spectacular natural beauty,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of Network Planning and Alliances. “Our new direct flights will allow people to get there faster than ever, giving them even more time to enjoy one of Mexico’s most unique destinations,” he said.

Delta Airlines
Delta offers a daily round-trip flight from Atlanta.
JetBlue
From June 13, JetBlue will start a daily non-stop flight from New York (JFK).
US airlines
This airline operates two daily flights from Dallas to Tulum and one daily flight from Charlotte and Miami.
This season alone, American has operated an astonishing number of more than 40 daily flights from 18 U.S. destinations to Cancun and now Tulum.
Spirit Airlines
In the near future, Spirit will operate a daily round-trip flight from Fort Lauderdale and another from Orlando. The exact date is yet to be announced.
Governor Mara Lezama declared that these new flights will give more than 6,160 weekly passengers the opportunity to experience first-hand Mayan culture, its gastronomy and its natural Caribbean beauty.
