Just because tourism in Mexico peaks around New Year’s Eve doesn’t mean travelers aren’t longing for the country’s dreamy beaches, even as temperatures start to rise.

In fact, recent reports show that Riviera Maya, one of the most sought-after regions in the entire country, is currently experiencing an unprecedented influx of visitors, with hotel occupancy rates approaching 100%.

Tulum beach

Currently, 85% of available rooms in Riviera Maya are booked for the coming months, and this number will only increase over time.

These statistics lead us to believe that the beautiful region stretching from Puerto Morelos to Punta Allen is slowly but surely overtaking its northern neighbor, Cancun.

This is why:

It has never been easier to visit Riviera Maya

For the busy modern traveler, convenience is of the essence, and there is nothing more unpleasant than having to jump from one plane to another to reach your desired destination, wasting a lot of time and money.

Fortunately, reaching the many beach hotspots scattered across Riviera Maya is as easy as it gets.

Thanks to ever-increasing traveler demand, new routes to the region are constantly being introduced, with Delta being the latest in a long line of airlines (including Spirited, JetBlue and United) to launch a new flight connecting the US to Riviera Maya.

North America’s most punctual airline will start operating daily nonstop flights from Atlanta to Tulum starting next month, while American will offer the same service from Dallas.

It’s worth noting that there are two new major infrastructure investments that have changed the way people get in, out and around Riviera Maya: Tulum’s new airport and the famous Mayan Train.

So if you’ve had a bad experience finding flights or public transportation in the past, I highly recommend reevaluating your options as a lot has changed in recent months.

Those who want to score a good deal should hurry

The fact that traveling to Riviera Maya has never been easier still doesn’t explain why hotels are booked months in advance, so why are people rushing so much?

There are two main reasons why those who want to spend their spring in the Mexican Caribbean should book their tickets just like yesterday.

First of all, the newly launched Tulum Airport and Maya Train Doing have something to do with the situation – now that visiting the region has become easier than ever, more and more people are heading to Riviera Maya’s hotspots, which in turn means those looking for the perfect place to stay should get ahead from millions of other travelers.

Second, it’s a well-known fact that arranging the logistics of an upcoming trip (think travel and lodging) a few months in advance can ultimately save you hundreds of dollars by getting ahead of general demand. and hotels have yet to increase their prices.

There is something for every type of traveler

At the heart of Riviera Maya’s eternal appeal lies the fact that the region caters to virtually every type of traveler.

Although the beautiful towns and cities along the coast are all linked by the same beachy charm, they all offer unique sights and experiences, creating an overall sense of variety that means even the most adventurous travelers will never be bored.

Young partygoers have fallen in love with Tulum’s legendary club scene, history buffs can’t wait to see the ancient ruins of Coba, while families looking for beach fun can’t get enough of Playa del Carmen’s pristine coastline.
