This was announced by Ana Paty Peralta, municipal president of Benito Juárez Cancun has been nominated in three categories at the 30th anniversary of the World Travel Awards.
This nomination positions Cancun as one of the most special tourist destinations in the world, thanks to its natural beauty, service and hospitality towards national and international tourists.
The mayor emphasized that these nominations are the result of the joint efforts of government agencies, private initiatives and service sector employees who work every day to promote the tourism sector and contribute to the conservation of the precious ecosystems that are the city’s main attraction . .

This edition Cancun will compete in the following categories:
- Leading beach destination in the world 2023.
- Leading urban destination in the world by 2023.
- Leading meeting and conference destination in the world by 2023.
Ana Paty Peralta also emphasized that Cancun is the emblematic destination of the Mexican Caribbean and one of the most famous destinations in the world. This is reflected in a 7 percent annual growth in hotel infrastructure and a 4 percent increase in the number of hotel rooms compared to 2022.

Tulum’s global leadership in tourism has been confirmed with its first-ever nomination for the World Travel Awards, WTA 2023. These awards are considered the equivalent of the “Oscars” in the tourism industry.
