Cafe menus worldwide all possible pumpkin and autumn herb brewing begin to display.
Every seasoned traveler knows that this is the Telltale sign that it is time to look for a sunny escape when leaves start to fall and the temperatures are falling.
Some cannot wait to be cozy by a fireplace, while others wish that the beach season has never ended. That is where Greece comes into play.

The vast, blue Aegean Sea is full of beautiful hiding places. That’s right – you don’t have to follow the crowds to Santorini and spend your entire salary in one night.
Personally, my favorite Greek island so far has been Crete, which was recently unveiled as the most popular beach destination in Greece – the strongly underrated city of Heraklion, to be precise.
Although the northeastern coast of Crete may see the best kept secret of the country, this white -ramped beach city has less crowded, typical Greek charm and chic resorts at a fraction of the Santorini price.
Welcome to Elounda: Crete’s real-life postcard

Chased by shiny whitewashed villas and bougainvillea-dressed terraces, you will immediately feel that you came across one of the most dreamy destinations in Greece.
Wrap around the Horseshoe-shaped bay of quiet, lively coasts is a mix of bobbing fishing boats that spread the harbor and enough resorts to make your base.
Net Offshore is an island that nobody tries to talk about – Spinalonga. Here you will discover the insightful history of this former leper colony and the remarkable Venetian fort
We are not here to renovate it as an Acropolis alternative, but it is certainly Instagram-worthy.
A great starting point is Elounda’s Promenade on the water, speckled with sleepy cafés, Taverns -Runned Taverns and legendary sights.

How beautiful resorts are here, don’t look back with regret that you have stayed in your chic excavations.
With a mild, sunny climate of abundant 70 degrees days, Elounda is made to enjoy the outdoors during this time of the year, whether it cherishes in the sun on one of the golden beaches, starting with your day with Sidewalk Cafe Affogatoor drain your day that the sunset in a restaurant by the sea as top rated Rakomelo Cretan Cuisine.
Crowd-Free Shores & Ritzy Resorts
Leave the crowd to the most notorious islands of Greece this fall. Unlike Santorini, where you have to set your alarm clock before the rooster kicks to take the best photos, you can melt in your mattress and leave here at any time.

There are plenty of beaches despite being a relatively small city. Travel experts at the Irish sun are hyping on Kolokytha Beach as the most beautiful place, with the reservation of the locals Beach.
As mentioned, Spinalonga is another hidden paradise, easily accessible by ferry or water taxi, but not ideal for beaches.
It doesn’t matter which beach you choose, you should not expect you to see a different face in the crowd. There is sufficient elbow space and more activities, because the Elounda has still been searched in the fall.
Snorkeling, diving and paddle boarding in the bay are all popular with the locals and tourists.
Celebrities love her, E, E and that is largely attributed to Elounda’s deducted village atmosphere and luxurious stay.

Although eating out will not break the bank, resorts are not exactly cheap here, necessarily. But comparing apples with apples with Santorini, Elounda is the clear winner for your wallet.
For example the 5-star Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas Goes for $ 272 a night for a stay of a week in October.
According to TripAdvisor, these are the 3 favorite Elounda Resorts of Travelers:
- Doumes or Elounda (signature collection)
- Elounda Gulf Villas (by Sandglass)
- Aquila Elounda Village
Best ways to get here

If you are not the best buttons with the rich and celebrities, don’t worry – you don’t have to jump on board a mega yacht.
Despite the appearance of far away, Elounda is relatively easy to reach, even for Americans who make the long flight.
There are currently 9 American cities that offer non -stop flights to Athens. From here you can jump on board one of the famous ferry trips of Greece from Athens (Piraeus), arrive in nearby Heraklion or Agios Nikolaos, and continue your journey by Rideshare, Taxi or a pre -arranged tour operator.
Heraklion is about an hour’s drive, while Agios Nikolaos is much closer, just 20 minutes.
But if I was, I would jump on board a short, cheap flight from Athens to my favorite Greek location, Chania.

A visit to Crete without visiting Chania seems like a crime in my eyes. Located a 3 -hour drive, you make a Cretan adventure along this enormously underrated coastline with a pit stop to view the hidden ruins of Heraklion, eventually left in the port of Elounda to complete a journey of a life.
