Don’t let the rapidly falling temperatures here in the US give you the wrong impression – there’s still plenty of time to do so dream beach holiday of you is finally happening.

And I have just the place for you.

Hidden for far too long in the heart of the Caribbean, the US Virgin Islands are finally emerging in the mainstream travel world as one of the region’s top destinations.

This year alone the archipelago has broken a record 26.5% increase in the number of touristsso it’s time to settle once and for all.

Why are people flocking to this once-overlooked hub at such tremendous speeds, and why should you, too, consider a trip to the US Virgin Islands before the year is out?

The cheapest time of year to visit the US Virgin Islands

The short answer is that this is hands down the best time you can find for a great trip to Saint Croix, Saint John or Saint Thomas (or any of the other surrounding small islands for that matter).

And the reason for that starts with unusually low prices.

Skyscanner estimates that September, October and November (actually all fall) are the cheapest months of the year to fly from the US to the Virgin Islands, with round-trip tickets starting from just $119 this next month.

And while that’s just the lowest possible price, you’ll find that falling airfares are trending across the board – just take a look here flight combo from Spirit and Frontier.

Best of all, you’ll find that hotels have become significantly cheaper this time of year too (this is tied to the whole ‘fewer people come here in the fall’ thing, but I’ll talk more about that below).

The hotel on the Kaai is the perfect option for those on a budget, with rooms starting from just $120 per night, but if you’re willing to spend a little more, I personally think Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort offers the best value for money.

That Caribbean beach experience without the crowds

I’m all for visiting tried-and-true classics like Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic, but now that the summer madness has slowly died down, we tend to long for a quieter, more peaceful place where we don’t have to share the crowds. pristine Caribbean coastline with hundreds of other people – in short, somewhere exactly like the US Virgin Islands.

According to KayakingThe busiest months on the archipelago are March and December, so if you act quickly and book that trip before fall is over, you’re all but guaranteed a peaceful, crowd-free experience.

The weather is getting better by the day

If you’re familiar with the region’s climate, you’re probably wondering: Isn’t there a rainy season on the islands right now?

And while yes, that is technically true, as we near the end of the extra humid phase, rainy days are quite scarce – even when it rains, the showers are short and followed by lots of sunso there’s not much to worry about.

And with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (about 75-90°F), you only have to look at the weather to ensure you have a great time in the US Virgin Islands. weather forecasts and bring a light jacket just in case.

…And there is still so much to do!

Just because the summer crowds are gone and the winter crowds are yet to come, doesn’t mean there aren’t a million fun things to do on any island.

For example, my ideal itinerary would definitely include an exploration session with the experts at the Aqua Marine Dive Center (St. Thomas); a lazy sunny day at Trunk Bay (St. John), Sapphire Beach (St. Thomas) or Shoys Beach (St. Croix); a trip to the incredible Virgin Islands National Park (St. John); and long (and tax-free!) shopping in St. Thomas.
