It’s long been a running joke that many Europeans tend to point the finger at Americans for a range of world problems, but one famous French beach town is certainly blaming us for the sudden tourist boom in their beloved paradise.

According to a new report, American tourists are the main reason behind a… record year surpasses 15 million visitors in total.

Moreover, they have spacious terraces with turquoise views of the sea – something that is impossible to find in Paris.

Home to the iconic Promenade des Anglais, pastel facades and an unparalleled Mediterranean seascape, Nice’s picture-postcard coasts and its vibrant cityscape have made this phenomenal city France’s trendiest destination for 2026, no matter what time of year you burn your PTO.

How’s that for a tongue twister?

Nice is incredibly fun to visit, but don’t worry, we’re not here to be a Dr. Seuss book about one of the most sought-after getaways in France.

This is pronounced ‘niece’, as you might have guessed vibrant Mediterranean escape is having a record year with no signs of slowing down.

If you’re in need of culture and winter sun, what better place to grab a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Côte d’Azur?

Known for its beautiful weather all year round, the enchanting Old Town (Vieux-Nice), picturesque narrow walking paths and the world-famous Cannes Film Festival nearby that attracts an audience from A-listers to normies like you and me, you can set your calendar innie-minnie-minie-moe and never be disappointed when you book your trip.

Winter sun is difficult to come by. Even certain “sunny” destinations in the US don’t live up to the hype, but not Nice.

Nice is not the cheapest place on earth, but neither is it the most expensive place on the French Riviera.

With fellow paradises St. Tropez, Cannes or even fun-filled Monaco nearby, Nice is the perfect place to enjoy all the delights of the city itself, while hopping around as much as you like.

If you ask me, Marseille is a must visit, but it does have a reputation for being sketchy.

That said, it didn’t produce the number of places I’ll never go back to; it’s actually one of my favorite European cities, and I can see why famous traveler Anthony Bourdain said he wanted to retire there.

Frankly, I’m sure there are an endless number of people in Nice too who would cut off their little finger to retire. dreamscape from the textbook.

Direct flights make Nice more attractive than ever

It seems like pretty much every major American city flies directly to Paris, but what about Nice?

While this popular beach town is no secret, it has undoubtedly become an American favorite.

It turns out that it’s not just more adventurous Americans looking for new shores to relax on, but also culture.

Florida just doesn’t measure up in that sense.

  • Atlanta (ATL)
  • Philadelphia (PHL)
  • Washington DC (IAD)
  • Newark (EWR)

As such, Americans are reported to be the driving force behind Nice’s surge in 2025. The newest of the bunch is Delta’s Boston route to Nice (NCE), which is sure to follow suit if the upward trend continues.
