I have been to Key West and let me tell you that it is one of those places that is under your skin in the best way.
Between the warm ocean breeze, the roosters walking through the streets, and those stunning sunsets on Mallory Square, my wife and I were both addicted to the first Mojito.
And now? The airport has just received a glow-up of $ 130 million to get there Much smoother and enthusiast.

๐ซ New Concoure A At Eyw: Yes, it’s chic now
So here is the deal … Key West International Airport (EYW) I have just finished a huge renovation of $ 130 million, and it is a bit of a big problem.
The brand new SamenLloop A Is open and it has all the things you didn’t know you needed at a small island airport.
Beyond are the days of stepping the plane in that sticky island air (charming, but let’s be real, It had its disadvantages). Now you get glass jet bridges with sweet, sweet air conditioning ๐ฎband.
Your hair and your outfit will thank you.
The new space is more than 48,000 square feet, has eight ports, solid windows and plenty of sockets for every phone, tablet and travel gadget in your bag.
And because this is hurricane, the whole thing is built 14.5 feet above the ground.

The windows can process the wind up to 200 km / h, and the glass even has special dots, so that birds do not fly in. I mean, they really thought of everything …
As if that wasn’t enough, they also place smart glass that adjusts the shade, depending on where the sun is. It is like sunglasses for the building ๐. Now I just want to find out how I can install the same technology in my windshield!
๐ EYW is getting busier – and better
With 1.5 million passengers who fly in last year, EYW has become much more than a small island of airport.
Now you can go non -stop to cities such as New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Boston and more. American, Delta, United, Jetblue, Allegiant, Silver and newcomer Breeze Airways are all in the mix.
View flight options and airlines Google -flights If you want to see what works for you.
And there are more upgrades.
Following: A pedestrian bridge, extensive luggage claim, a better security control point and even more traveler-friendly functions. They strive to complete that in the summer of 2026.

๐๏ธ So you landed – what now?
To be honest, Landing in Key West feels the best way to arrive at a different planet.
It is quirky, colorful and full of things to do, whether you are a history lover, Barhopper, Strandbou or Foodie. ((10 points if you are all four as I am!))
๐๏ธ Where to stay
When I visited, I realized that where you stay your journey can really form. Key West has a lot of personality and the hotels reflect that. Some are cozy and quiet, others are lively and stylish. Here there are a few where I stayed or have a bookmark for the next time:
- The Capitana Key West– Beautiful and tucked away, but still close to the promotion. Perfect for couples and families. I stayed in one of the houses and it was as if I had my own house, highly recommending!
- Southern beach resort– directly on the beach with a beautiful view of the ocean, great swimming pools and an easy walk to everything. It is perfect if you want that toes-in-the-sand atmosphere without being far from the promotion. (My wife and our press manager, Liz, are there now And I’m so jealous!)
- Kimpton Lighthouse Hotel – Super cute, Super Key West. Bonus: it’s close to the Hemingway house.

๐ฏ What to do
After you have settled, it’s time to wander. I like how everything is walkable in Key West or just a short drive.
This is what I would touch first if I was back there:
- Sunset Celebration on Mallory Square – Street artists, food carts and epic views of sunset. It is touristy, but definitely worth it.
- Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum -Even if you are not a book, only the cats with six toes are worth the visit.
- Duval Street Crawl – From diving bars to chic cocktails, this street has it all. Don’t skip Sloppy Joe’s.
- Rent a bike or scooter – The island is small, so skip the car and cruise like a local.
- Snorkeling or sailing trip -Poek a half -day tour and press the water. I loved our journey with Honest eco. We spent the first half of our excursion dolphin watching (we let them come right on the boat!), And snorkeling the 2nd half.

๐ฝ๏ธ Food you dream about later
Okay, food is a big problem for me when I travel. And in Key West? It NOT disappoint. These places stayed past me long after the journey:
- Blue sky – Go for Brunch, stay for the most important lime cake. There are live music and chickens roaming the garden. Believe me, it feels like his own little world.
- Garbo’s grill – It’s a food truck in a tropical garden and it’s wild. Try the Korean tacos.
- Width – Take the ferry to sunset key for a edition evening. It is dinner with a view that you never forget.

๐ Why is this the time to go
Between the improved airport, more flight options and all classic key West -Charme still intact, there has never been a better time to plan a trip.
Whether you escape the cold or just need a reset in which slippers, conch beignets and zero stress are involved, this is your sign. I am even tempted to continue and now book my ticket …
So grab a card, grab light and get ready to fall in love again at Key West, starting the moment you get from that Jet Bridge.
