The winter is fully in force in southwestern Missouri where I live, and my skin feels it! In the winter I tend to get dry spots on my skin, especially my elbows, knees and hands.
This winter skin homemade body oil is the perfect remedy. It is a kind of hybrid between a lotion and a body oil. This is how the consistency is:

A bit of this goes a long way! And I especially love the application of part of this on my feet and hands before bedtime, so that it can soak a little at night. 🙂
I have packed my version with some pretty high -end ingredients! Do you know how you sometimes buy a product in the store and see that the first ingredient mentioned is water? Not so much here. They are all good things for this homemade body oil.

This is what I used in my winter skin homemade body oil:
-Sea butter
–Argan Oil
–Jojoba -Olt
-Vitamin E -oil
–Esential oil for odor (lavender)
-Mica powder for a small shine
In fact, you want your body oil to be 1 part shea butter and 1 part of oil. You can mix oils (like I did) or exchange the majority for something cheaper such as coconut oil or even olive oil, which is still really great for your skin.
I have added about 10-15 drops of lavender oil and a hoping teaspoon of the mica powder, but both are optional and the oil would still be great without them.

This is what the mica powder looks like. It is really great for a little (natural) shine or to make -yourself make -ups.
Just add all the ingredients to a glass jar and use an immersion mixer to mix well until no lumps remain. My homemade body oil has an almost milky color with a kind of pearl gloss from the mica.
Although I do not necessarily use this as cosmetic (it is really for dry skin), I love how beautiful and luxurious it looks.

You can easily save it in any airtight container such as a glass jar with a lid. But, as with any lotion or body oil, it is nice to have something with a small spout or cast option.
I found some reusable honey bear containers in a local agricultural store (it is a long story why I was there, but I thought they would be perfect for homemade lotions and things, so I bought them when I saw them).
But you could definitely reuse something that you already have in your bathroom or kitchen cabinets or just use a clean glass jar. I hope your skin loves this stuff as much as mine! XO. Emma
Ps This body oil can separate over time, or at extreme temperatures. If you notice this, just give the container a good shake and things will be worked up again.
