Tragedy struck in December when Oscar-nominated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Reiner, were fatally stabbed in their home. According to a source, Reiner became aggressive and verbally disruptive when deputies did not promptly escort him back, using profanities and refusing to follow instructions. The delay was due to an emergency involving another inmate who had suffered an overdose.
Although the confrontation did not escalate to physical violence, Reiner received a disciplinary write-up for violating jail rules and lost privileges such as phone calls, visitation, and commissary access for five days.
