There are outfits you buy just for a holiday, and there are clothes that straddle the line between work and leisure. ALC focuses on creating a wardrobe for modern women, one that isn’t fussy – never fussy! – but still special enough to take with you on a trip to Colombia.
Andrea Lieberman drew inspiration from her own trip to Colombia for fall, which is reflected in the sun-bleached colors and festive, multicolored stripes. While many of the pieces in the collection, like the crochet blue shorts and the fringed skirt, are appropriate for occasions, just as many would work if you’re just dreaming of a South American getaway from the office. “I was very enthusiastic about the concept of sleek, modern partition walls. The perfect pieces that you really want to have in your suitcase, but that can also trap you,” says Lieberman. Many of these garments are made of linen, pure or blended, giving them the lightness you are looking for for summer.
On the more formal side of the spectrum there were the aforementioned fringed skirts in midi and mini lengths, strapless tops with cinched waists and a terracotta dress with a plunging neckline – chicer compared to the rest of the collection, but still easy. The classic linen button-downs and crochet polo dresses were just as appealing, but a highlight was the white linen shirt paired with a floor-length column skirt – it doesn’t get any cleaner than that.
