When Jennifer Lawrence showed up for her last summer No hard feelings during a press tour, there was immediate agreement that she had never looked better. This year, the Oscar winner adopted a uniform of sorts that perfectly matched her signature laid-back attitude. Matching her personality to her style, with the help of her stylist Jamie Mizrahi, Lawrence exuded effortlessness.
Lawrence’s simple, yet distinctly luxurious new style embodies the high-low dressing, offering the perfect balance of opposites: oversized, yet tailored; simple, but expensive; designer bag plus affordable sneakers; a dramatic ball gown worn with slippers. What helped keep Lawrence’s personal style so exciting was her modern elaboration on classic pieces, accomplished through her accessories.
In theory, a Jennifer Lawrence outfit is easy to recreate: wide-leg pants, a white T-shirt in warmer weather, a sweater in cold weather and a well-tailored trench coat. One way she took her look to the next level was by carrying a status bag. Once, the actor was spotted carrying a blush brown Margaux bag from The Row, an heirloom quality bag that she paired with a white T-shirt, flowy pants and a trench coat. She also loved the Loewe Puzzle tote bag, which she took with her almost everywhere, including to the gym.
Shoes are another standout accessory from Lawrence. She wasn’t immune to the allure of the year’s trendiest pieces, putting to the test some of the buzzy Alaïa mesh flats, luxe summer camp sandals, and pretty much every color of Adidas under the sun. Understatement is the name of her game, and that includes jewelry, which she has kept to a minimum. But a few of her favorite pieces caught our attention, especially her diamond tennis necklace.
Lawrence also took a new approach to dressing for movie premieres, focusing on unexpected looks. A longtime friend of Dior, she hit the Cannes carpet in a stunning red dress from the label, complete with a full skirt and matching shawl. But underneath she revealed a pair of black leather sandals, in violation of the festival’s heel policy. Elsewhere on her press tour, she paired a breezy, sheer dress with a severe, strong-shouldered blazer.
