The AMVCA may have stolen the spotlight last week, but other events also took the stars for a fashionable spin in Lagos. One such event was the Afrobeats star, Tiwa Savages Water and Garri movie premiere, which brought in celebrities like bees attracted to honey. From wavy numbers to polished offerings, the looks spotted on Lagos’ Style Ravens were a haute representation of the ‘Lasgidi‘Busy lifestyle. Indeed, the girls danced in beautiful regalia and attracted attention like an artist in her prime.
While these two major events were the talk of Lagos, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry And Meghan spread their tentacles in Abuja and A-listers responded with matching ensembles. Media mogul, for example Mo Abudu moderated the Women in Leadership summit, with Meghan Markle in attendance, bringing high-fashion energy. In simpler words, Naija has a reputation for shaking things up in the style department, and they did just that last week.
Check out the best looks from Water and Garri’s film premiere and other events…
#1. Tiwa wanted
Brown on brown sounds boring, but Tiwa Savage took advantage of the preference of her skin color. She wore an all-brown gift to the premiere of her Water and Garri film, breaking her neck in the process. She slayed the cropped button-down shirt and wide-hem trousers flawlessly. Savage completed the look with a brown jacket, matching bag and tie. The brown-skinned girl has been in her bag, and doing so without compromising style is mastery.
#2. Mo Abudu
Mo Abudu, in love with the pretty prints, media mogul wore a floral Banke Kuku dress and lightweight outerwear to a women’s top in Abuja. The high-neck maxi dress brought enough grace to shake up the style scene. The tenderness of the hue and the influence of the number indeed exuded a refined appeal. When it comes to stylish and impactful, leave it to Abudu to serve up unadulterated style.

#3. Linda Osifo
Last week there was a plethora of glamorous numbers with crafty details. Making a plea for a refined and recognizable actress Linda Osifo chose a stunning black dress as host for the ACAGE Premium 100 Lagos event. Her diamond jewelry added more sparkle to the eye-catching offering. This number can serve as a head-turning wedding guest or a sizzling red carpet wonder.
#4. Grace Aigbe
The fact that we have been around for so long and still find ways to steal the show is true to the fashion characteristics of the Ankara print. Nigerian actress Grace Aigbe passed the vibe check in a free size Ankara dress with fringe detailing at the midriff. She paired the green prints with a green handbag and strappy heels and finished the look with a braided updo. The fit looked relaxed but deliberate. An absolute victory!
#5. Chioma Ikokwu
There must have been extra on the menu last week, because the stars made it a mission to do more. Reality star Chioma Ikokwu drowned in sparkles as she went to the businessman Obi Cubanas birthday party in a black and silver Weiz Dhurm Franklin outfit. The black dress showed off crystal-embellished details at the front, which emphasized her curves. She styled the dress with sheer tights with a striped pattern and black shoes. The redhead applied even more pressure with statement jewelry that came in hard. On a scale of 1-10? Ten across the board.
#6. Iyabo Ojo
Actress, Iyabo Ojo made another plea for Ankara prints: the global print that keeps on giving. Ojo paired layered Ankara palazzo pants with a metallic butterfly top and attended the Black Smith movie premiere in full finesse. The pants had a layer at the knees with different prints, matching the purple accents in the top with exaggerated sleeves. Although it was a busy period, it still remained within the boundaries of a symphony that only good styling can provide.
#7. Vanessa Azar
Cameroonian influencer Vanessa Azar glowed at the Lagos premiere of Water and Garri in a color-blocked boubou by Nigerian designer Toju Foyeh. The combination of pink and green depicted the vibrancy of African fashion and underlined the rich aunt theme with an aura of elegance. When in doubt, pull through in a sleek boubou.
