Despite their previous marriage, Katy Perry was banned from being mentioned during Russell Brand’s rape and sexual assault trial.
According to Deadline, Perry was initially set to be referenced in the prosecution’s opening statements, but her name was omitted after Brand’s attorneys objected. Two of the offenses Brand was found guilty of occurred in 2009, the same year he and Perry began dating, but the disgraced actor’s legal team argued that their relationship was irrelevant to the allegations.
