Why Fripp Island, South Carolina Is The Ultimate Family Vacation Destination

When it comes to family vacations, there’s always the pressure to explore new and exciting destinations. But for Liz and I, our annual family trip always brings us back to the same place every year: Fripp Island, South Carolina.

Despite trying new locations, we always find ourselves returning to Fripp Island. The deep-rooted family tradition and the comfort of the island are more valuable to us than the novelty of a new spot on the map.

If you’re looking for a destination to unplug and reconnect with your loved ones, Fripp Island is the perfect sanctuary.

The Daily Routine: 6 Hours On The Sand

The vibe on Fripp Island is completely relaxed, with no rigid schedules. We spend our days on the beach, enjoying the calm ocean and engaging in various activities like beach soccer and frisbee.

It’s a low-stress beach day where the biggest decision is when to open a cold drink.

The Logistics: Amenity Cards And Resort Carts

For a successful stay on Fripp Island, you need amenity cards to access pools, restaurants, and shops. Renting a golf cart is the best way to navigate the island, providing convenience and a fun experience.

Another tip is to do your grocery shopping off the island to save money. The convenience stores on the island are great for quick purchases but can be pricey for a full grocery haul.

The Secret Escape: Pritchard’s Island

For a secluded beach experience, head to Pritchard’s Island at low tide. It’s an undeveloped, pristine beach that feels like a desolate paradise.

However, be cautious of the tide schedule as the beach disappears underwater when the tide comes in, making it dangerous to cross back to Fripp Island.

The Pools: Cabana Chilling And Giant Beer Pong

After a day at the beach, transition to the pools for a relaxing evening. The Cabana pool offers dive-in movie nights, perfect for family bonding.

For adult entertainment, check out the island’s activity schedule for events like golf cart scavenger hunts and giant beer pong tournaments.

The Day Trip: Crossing Over To Beaufort

Take a day trip to Beaufort, a historic coastal town with charming streets, waterfront dining, and boutique shopping. It’s a refreshing break from the island atmosphere.

Walking through Beaufort’s historic streets showcases the beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry and adds a unique experience to your vacation.
