Nothing screams ‘summer’ like a getaway to a beautiful Caribbean island.

But as some of us get tired of going to the same old places again and again and others try to avoid the crazy tourist crowds at some of those all-time favorite spots, there’s one destination with surprisingly pristine beaches that’s emerging as the attraction of the region. hippest hotspot.

View of Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas

Paradise Island in the Bahamas was welcomed close 1.9 million visitors in the first four months of 2024 alone, which not only represents an increase of 13.2% compared to the same time last year, but also tells us that an even more successful summer season is in store.

But what sets this place apart from so many other Caribbean gems of its kind?

Stick around to find out.

Some of the most incredible beaches in the Caribbean

I know – all Caribbean beaches are postcard-worthy, but it’s time we accept that some are simply more impressive than others.

You’ll see what I’m talking about as soon as you set foot on Paradise Island and catch a glimpse of the pristine white sand and translucent water.

While you could say that the entire island is one big beach that you can’t get enough of, there are actually a few places that may be more worth visiting than others.

My personal top picks are Cabbage, Paradise and Colonial Beach – all different enough that you won’t get bored, but similar in what really matters: breathtaking views and the best waters you’ve ever swum in.

Flying to this true paradise has never been easier

When people named this place, they weren’t kidding: it’s a real paradise!

And now you can just hop on just about any plane and take it all with you, thanks to the many airlines that have released new, exciting routes to the Bahamian gem in recent years – well, to Nassau, but Paradise Island is just an 18-minute drive from the Bahamian capital, anyway.

Even budget-friendly carriers like it Southwest and Jetblue have thrown their hat into the ring, making the once mysterious island only accessible to a lucky few more accessible than ever.

Not only have these companies helped expand scheduling options, but they have also had a noticeable impact in lowering competing airlines’ airfare prices – currently, some tickets cost just over $200.

Here you’ll find everything from budget-friendly stays to luxurious all-inclusive resorts

Let me preface this by saying there aren’t any Real cheap hotels on Paradise Island, at least not the hotels that are commonly available to the public, so the use of ‘budget-friendly’ here is a bit subjective.

For example, one of the best, cheaper places to stay on the island is Comfort Suites, whose rooms start at $370 per night.

However, remember that these are all large resorts where you are paying for more than just your stay; it all balances out; and when it comes to iconic places like the Atlantis paradise you are also paying for the service and overall atmosphere.

The good news is that if your budget doesn’t allow for all of this, you can always book something cheaper ($80-$120 per night) near Nassau and drive back and forth whenever you want to take advantage of Paradise Island’s unreal beaches – I guarantee that it will be worth it.

A surprisingly lively hub with lots to discover

With an area of only 2.8 km2, you would expect Paradise Island to be a piece of land full of trees, when in fact nothing happens.

Fortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The islands events calendar This summer is packed, and depending on what you’re in the mood for, you can choose between culinary festivals, basketball games, wine tastings, gallery openings and monastery excursions.

However, if nature is your top priority this summer, Paradise Island is still a fantastic choice.

Go diving in the Blue Hole, go kayaking, try a boat tour or fishing charter, or enjoy a scenic walk – the choice is yours.
