Popular movie The bucket list was released in 2007 starring screen legends Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the gist of the storyline goes like this:
An aging man becomes terminally ill and wants to go out with a bang, eventually creating a “bucket list” of goals he must achieve before he “kicks the bucket.”
This started a trend where people started going beyond the big screen and have since seeped into the travel world.
Every traveler may not necessarily have a physical list, but there must be certain destinations calling your name.
That could be one of them Fiji, a remote island paradise in the vast South Pacific. Unlike the Maldives, Bali or any other far-flung destination, Fiji is much easier to get to than you might think.
In fact, Americans can now fly nonstop from four US cities with the newest addition being Dallas-Fort Worth The Fiji Airways network.
Fiji: where breathtaking exotic islands meet unparalleled hospitality
Everyone deserves a holiday. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you do – the world is your oyster, made to be explored.
You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t find Fiji attractive. Sure, flying long distances over the ocean for hours can be terrifying, but the journey is worth the price in the end.
Stunning blue water, powder white sand, swaying palm trees and no crowds like Cancun, Americans’ favorite beach resort.
Furthermore, Fiji has a truly unique culture where the ‘Bula’ spirit cannot be imitated. Fijians are known for their warmth and hospitality, whether they stay in a cozy cottage or an impeccable resort.
It’s not just the friendly locals and world-class beaches that will lure you. If you go inland and visit the local markets and beautiful nature reserves, you will also go crazy.
You can attend a traditional Kava ceremony (many hotels offer this) or hire a guide to visit the epic 20-meter high Biausevu Falls for $90.
Fiji is definitely worth putting at the top of your bucket list and offers unforgettable memories from island to island, village to village and adventure adventure.
From Texas to a tropical paradise: DFW’s newest long-haul flight
Flying to Cancun or the Caribbean Islands is old news! It’s time to level up for the vacation of a lifetime.
Residents of Dallas and Fort Worth will be able to do just that. As one of America’s busiest airports, the stress of navigating these busy terminals makes Fiji all the more appealing, even before you board.
Fiji’s flagship airline, rightly called Fiji Airways, is the only airline flying direct from the US, and this new DFW route will be the longest in their network.
Like a safe, highly rated airline, you are in good hands.
Now the fine print…
Fiji Airways has made all necessary applications to ensure that this flight and such things become a reality almost always get through it.
However, since the new route is stuck in the boring bureaucratic phase, details are few:
- will take place on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
- takes about 13 hours each way
- will be flown on a spacious Airbus A350-900 with 334 seats
- departs from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and arrives in Nadi (NAN)
Dates, times and rates are high in the air, so to speak. Stay up to date with Fiji Airways’ official website where there are currently US routes for sale!
Four major cities now offer direct flights to Fiji
Dallas is late to the party because three other cities are already members of this exclusive club.
Let us start from one paradise to another and continue our way to the east. The following flights are direct to Nadi:
- Honolulu (HNL): 3 flights per week (non-stop on Saturdays only)
- San Francisco (SFO): 5 flights per week (nonstop Thursday, Saturday only)
- Los Angeles (LAX): daily service
- Dallas (DFW): 3 flights per week
In addition to the addition of DFW, Fiji Airways is expected to become a full-fledged company a world member in 2025, offering even more cool options for travelers across its network of more than 900 destinations.
Luxury resorts abound
It goes without saying that Fiji is a textbook paradise. Part of the dream and appeal of traveling for hours in the air to such a place is that you can pamper yourself and relax in luxury.
Fiji is just the place!
It’s not just for the ultra-rich, it can apply to you too. According to TripAdvisorThese are currently the top 5 resorts in Fiji:
- Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa
- Likuliku Lagoon Resort
- Castaway Island Fiji
- Tokoriki Island Resort – Fiji
- Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort
These are cool and all, but if it were me, I’d be magnetized by them Koro Sun Resort & Rainforest Spa.
August dates are as low as $179 Priceline for a jungle bure (a Fijian straw hut), where you sleep with the sounds of nature at night and walk to a paradise beach during the day.
