I’ve always loved looking for the best deals when it comes to travel.

There’s something about exploring a new place on a budget that not only makes you feel satisfied and worry-free, but also gives you the chance to see much, much more than you otherwise would.

Therefore when this study about the cheapest (and most expensive) US destinations was released, I ran there looking for ideas for the next great place to add to my bucket list – and that’s exactly what I found.

Of the top 100 travel destinations in the country analyzed, these promised the best tourist allure – low price:

Places 6-10

Before we move on to the top 5 or the crème de la crème as I like to call them, let’s quickly go through the places that were ranked sixth through tenth in the report; Sure, they may not be the absolute cheapest, but they’re still beautiful hubs that are definitely worth checking out:

  1. Monument Valley, Utah
  2. Bend, Ore
  3. Cape Cod, Massachusetts
  4. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  5. Sedona city, Arizona

Now that that’s said, let’s dive right into our No. 5 spot holder: Galtingurg, Tennessee.

5. Gatlinburg, Tenn

Don’t let Gatlinburg’s unassuming little mountain town facade fool you: the Tennessee gem was on almost every “Top Underrated Places to Visit in the US” list this fall, and if this trend continues as it is, you will soon have a hard time finding a hotel to book.

That’s why I recommend getting here as soon as possible for the best experience (and deals).

Sidney James Mountain Lodge has rooms available from just $58, the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is right around the corner, and the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park is not only breathtaking this time of year, but also free to enter!

4. Tybee Island, Georgia

If you feel like you missed out on a relaxing beach getaway this summer, why not plan it now?

Located just a 30-minute drive from Savannah, this often overlooked gem is actually the perfect spot for those who want to go sunbathing, kayaking, paddle boarding or even dolphin watching (tickets start from just $27.95 per adult)!

Here you will also find lots of cute restaurants serving delicious food at unbeatable prices – I will always have a soft spot for them Sundae cafe.

3. Helen, Georgia

This next one is for anyone who wants to experience a slice of Europe here in the US, and most importantly, on a budget.

That’s exactly what you’ll find in Helen, a small town in Georgia that was built to mimic a Bavarian mountain village and, of course, is home to one of the country’s longest-running Oktoberfests.

From now on until October 27the event will take place every evening, complete with traditional music, lively dancing, delicious food and lots of beer.

2. Outer Banks, North Carolina

Returning to a more quintessentially American hub, North Carolina’s Outer Banks are what I would describe as a slice of coastal heaven.

Here you can spend your days strolling through Jockey’s Ridge State Park, exploring the Wright Brothers National Memorial, or hitting the water for kayaking, paddle boarding, or even surfing – the best part is that gear rentals are significantly cheaper now that the summer crowds are over is , so if there was ever a time to try something new, it’s definitely now!

1. Charleston, West Virginia

West Virginia is quickly establishing itself as one of the nation’s trendiest hotspots, first by breaking its all-time tourism record and now by ranking its beautiful capital as the number 1 best-value destination in the entire US – no wonder so many people come here!

The great thing about Charleston is that there really is something for everyone.

Outdoor enthusiast? Coonskin Park and Kanawha State Forest are not only perfect for hiking, picnicking and everything in between, but they are also completely free to enter.

City tripper?

The Clay Center for the Arts and Science, the West Virginia State Museum and the Capitol Market are all must-sees.

Foodie? Don’t miss the chance to try a pepperoni roll (my top recommendation would be: Swiftwater Café).
