Forget the blender drinks (okay, maybe just a few).
I trade frozen margaritas for freshly brewed Lagers, because this adults-only paradise has something no other resort in Mexico has: a full-fledged brewery just a stone’s throw from the Caribbean Sea.
Of course, there are also plenty of delicious frozen margaritas (it is Margaritaville after all!). But the point is, whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Mayayou have officially redefined my idea of a tropical vacation 🍻.
I’ll go into more detail below, but if you only take one thing away from this, let it be this: a trip to Margaritaville Riviera Maya will melt your worries away with delicious food, beautiful pools, a carefree atmosphere, and incredible beer brewed just steps from your room.
Since our visit in September we have talked about the trip at least once a day and we have had a great time.
After many magical moments at the resort, we’ve rounded up 5 reasons why you should add this property to your bucket list.

Adventure is brewing…
While there were many things that stood out about this property, the most unique was the on-site Landshark Brewery right on the ocean.
After visiting a lot of all-inclusives, it can seem like they all fit together.
While you may be in a different place, with a different room and a slightly different atmosphere, the all-inclusive premise remains the same: all you can eat and drink next to a pool or on the beach.
Margaritaville Riviera Maya brought a refreshing take on the all-inclusive experience by adding an oceanfront brewery. A perk you won’t find anywhere else in Mexico!
In the image below you can see the shark fin behind the pool bar; that’s how close the brewery is to the ocean!
We were able to taste here during a unique time: the Oktoberfest.
So not only did we get to enjoy the delicious food and beer with a great view, but we also got into the holiday spirit with the specially crafted Oktoberfest beer that was completely unique to the resort.
In reality, every beer in the brewery is uniqueespecially for the resort.
The master brewer makes every beer on site and it is served straight from the tank it was made in, without leaving the premises!
Unique all-inclusive atmosphere
Remember what I said about a lot of all-inclusive packages feeling like they’re the same?
At Margaritaville you can forget all that. The resort is super new and feels very different from other accommodations.
Not only do you get that carefree ‘Jimmy Buffet’ atmosphere throughout, but you also get great food, unique resort drinks and unlimited room service.
While we’re used to being able to snack and drink to our heart’s content at an all-inclusive, Margaritaville Riviera Maya stands out from the rest in a big way with its unique atmosphere.
The resort is also adults-only, so you won’t have to encounter crazy kids while you’re trying to relax, plan your party, or work on your tan.
The BEST foam party in the Caribbean
Okay, okay… best is relative. But I will say this: we’re not party goers, but the foam party at Margaritaville is something completely different, and we had a blast!
Every week the resort puts on a huge show, ending with a gigantic foam party that will make you feel like a kid again (but with a drink 😃).
First you look at how the stage is in the middle of the pool with a DJ. Dancers come out and it feels like you are attending a carnival.
Then the real fun begins!
Foam cannons go off, beach balls go into the air, drinks start flowing and the music goes to the next level!
We had a lot of fun, especially since we weren’t party goers. We had a reservation that we had to go to right away and we were actually sad to have to leave!
Pro tip: try not to inhale the foam 😂
St. Somewhere: where stress melts away
If you’ve read a few of my articles, you may notice a theme… I like to unwind when I travel.
And where better to do that than in a spa?
But I have a confession. After a visit to A Real spa in Zurich a few years ago, most of the spas I’ve been to on this side of the world felt like a disappointment.
A massage is always good, but I always wish more spas had a full ritual you could go through, like many of the spas in Europe.
You know… jump in the sauna, rinse off with cold water, jump in another sauna, jump in an ice bath, jump in the hot tub, take a nap on a hot stone chair. You understand; it’s hard to find!
That’s why I was so happy when I discovered that Margaritaville Riviera Maya had a ritual for us to try! It’s such a rare treat in so many hotels, so we definitely took advantage of it.
Our ritual was a steam sauna, a cold water shower, a traditional sauna, a cold dip and then a few different water massage areas in a warmer pool, followed by rest time on a heated stone bed.
This was THE perfect way to start our day, and it was the most relaxed I felt on the entire trip.
Suns out, weapons out
This always divides the room, but I really appreciate a building with a good gym!
I know, I know, most people don’t even want to think about the gym while on vacation, but I’ve found that a good workout really makes the rest of the day much more fun.
Drinks are guilt-free and you’ll start the day with a serotonin boost, the perfect addition to any holiday.
The sad thing about exercising while traveling is that most hotel gyms are really disappointing. I won’t mention names, but I was recently traveling in Mexico where the hotel gym had about 10 machines.
That’s actually not too shabby, but only one of them was functioning, while the others were in complete disrepair.
Luckily, Margaritaville Riviera Maya had a gym that exceeded expectations and allowed us to follow our full normal routine while on vacation.
