It seems like everyone wants to be in Europe in the summer, and high demand usually leads to high prices.
But it is possible to visit Europe during peak season without spending a lot of money, and you can even do so with the convenience of an all-inclusive package.
All-inclusive resorts are my guilty pleasure.
They are so easy and convenient. And what’s not to like about ordering a cocktail whenever you want, without having to pay for it?
But where can you find the best value? British consumer magazine Which one? has done extensive research and found that these are the 10 cheapest European destinations for an all-inclusive holiday this summer.
5. Bourgas area, Bulgaria
Bulgaria is something of a newcomer to the world of all-inclusive resorts, but has exploded in popularity in recent years.
The Bourgas area is known for its beautiful beaches and is also an incredibly affordable holiday destination. It is known for its all-inclusive resorts, especially in the Sunny Beach area.
As the name suggests, you’ll find incredible beaches here, but if you want to experience some Bulgarian culture, you can also explore Ravadinovo Castle.
This is a fairytale style castle that looks old, but was only built in 1996.
The gardens are particularly beautiful, with thousands of exotic plants and flowers.
Admission costs 15 euros ($15.61) per personwith a 10% discount if you book online in advance.
4. Dalaman area, Turkey
If your idea of a perfect holiday is to relax on the beach and enjoy the rays of the scorching sun, then Dalaman is the perfect option for you.
The temperatures here in July and August are hotter than any other destination on this list.
What I love about Dalaman is that it offers the perfect mix of poolside relaxation, water sports and adventure activities, and cultural exploration.
Don’t miss the chance to visit the Ölüdeniz Blue Lagoon, one of the most beautiful beaches in the area.
And you can also explore the hot springs and mud baths of Sultaniye.
These sources are said to have healing properties while being good for your skin.
They have the highest radioactivity of any naturally occurring source in the country.
3. Tenerife, Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are considered the islands of eternal sunshine.
The weather here is always warm and the sea temperature is always above 20°C (regardless of the time of year), so swimming in the sea in summer feels like taking a bath.
The most visited island in the Canary Islands chain is Tenerife, and its main advantage is that the island is packed with excellent all-inclusive resorts.
Tenerife is home to both black and white sand beaches and an amazing mountain range in the background.
Top tip: Often resorts in the Canary Islands claim to be a ‘beach hotel’ when in reality they are a 5-10 minute walk from the beach. Do your research and look for a resort with ‘direct beach access’ so you can hear the sea from your balcony!
2. Fuerteventura, Canary Islands
I’ve written here before about my love for the Canary Islands in general and Fuerteventura in particular.
So it’s exciting to read this: the island is also one of the cheapest all-inclusive destinations this summer!
I recommend choosing an all-inclusive resort in Corralejo, my favorite part of the island.
This is just a 45-minute drive from the airport and close to the Dunas de Corralejo Natural Park.
These are the largest sand dunes in Europe, and they are breathtakingly beautiful while surrounded by incredible turquoise waters.
The surfing here is also excellent (the best of the islands), and due to its popularity with surfers, Correlejo has a relaxed atmosphere and excellent nightlife.
Because Fuerteventura is not as busy with tourists as the other Canary Islands Tenerife or Gran Canaria, you will also find that the people here are friendly and hospitable.
The friendly locals and hospitable staff make a big difference to the quality of an all-inclusive holiday!
1. Costa Blanca, Spain
The Costa Blanca sometimes gets a bad rap thanks to its abundance of rugged all-inclusive resorts.
But this is an incredibly beautiful part of Spain’s vast coastline and a great place to visit.
It is also officially the most affordable all-inclusive destination in Europe.
The beaches are one of the biggest attractions here. If you like swimming or water sports, this is a great place to be.
You’ll find stretches of golden sand, secluded coves and clear waters, as well as an abundance of Blue Flag beaches.
Benidorm is the most famous seaside resort on the Costa Blanca, but if you want to get off the beaten track you can explore charming fishing villages such as Jávea.
There are also unique mountain villages surrounding this region that offer a great escape from the busy beaches.
The complete list of the 10 cheapest destinations
It should come as no surprise that I visited all of the top 5 cheapest destinations above: I like to travel on a budget!
But where else has been cut?
These destinations are budget-friendly and all offer beautiful weather in the summer months, beautiful beaches and fascinating cultures.
The top 10 cheapest European all-inclusive destinations are:
- Costa Blanca, Spain
- Fuerteventura, Canary Islands
- Tenerife, Canary Islands
- Dalaman area, Turkey
- Burgas area, Bulgaria
- Zante, Greece
- Mallorca, Spain
- Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
- Cyprus
