Texas is not only tumbleweeds, ten-gallon hats and oversized pickups not close.
We at Travel Off Path covered the Lone Star State from the end to the end of the southwestern corner, even colleague Texans see a view of the Gargantuan Metropolises with 26-riding strips of highways.
But here, Austin undoubtedly not only became one of the trendy cities of Texas, but also the entire country.

Whether it is the flourishing comic scene, university stadvibes, amazing lush nature around the city, quirky cafés and shops, or what essentially becomes Silicon Valley 2.0, Austin and Fort Worth, his neck and neck as the new go-to-to-spots in Texas.
Although Travel + Leisure has something to say about that, is the assignment of another city that happens to be one of my favorites as the best of the Lone Star State.
Radiant with cultural pleasures, winding waterways and one of the few cities where it is impossible to have a bad meal, the historic city of San Antonio has been crowned the Top destination in Texas and top 15 in the US
Yeehaw! The only Texas City honored by Travel + Leisure

San Antonio has seen a small decrease in the number of tourism, but this enormously underrated city is literally a melting pot of cultures in the summer – emphasis on ‘melting’.
Because you cannot swim in the River Walk (although that did not stop a select number that may have enjoyed the city’s Margaritas policy), the sizzling heat can be a deterrent for some summer sneakers.
I say that, find a shady patio with a gentleman and enjoy an ice -cold cocktail. Even better, almost every restaurant and for A/C and what the best Mexican food should be for the state (Err “Tex-Mex”).
During my last trip to San Antonio, although I have been on vacation here since my childhood Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant.

This long-term family runned staple is a must-visit, where friendly staff know their loyal customers by name and serve the best enchiladas and “swollen tacos” in the city, away from the bustling river walk-it is a real microcosm of the infectious hospitality of San Antonio.
SA has a perfect balance between old and new. You will find classic eateries such as Los Barrios and transformed neighborhoods such as The Pearl Districtwith modern food rooms, cafés with conceivable matcha -brew and one of my favorite places to eat, Down on GraysonFor a break of overloading of Mexican food.
Moreover, their slices of cake are larger than the ego of my ex and that says something …

Just as satisfying as the kitchen are the surprising attractions that spread over the city, which further extend beyond the world-famous Alamo with heaven-crunching towers that offer unparalleled city view, museums of world class, the equestrian tradition of Charreadaand many lively markets to wander through Market square – And yes, some are indoors to beat the summer heat!
Sounds much nicer than endless shopping in Dallas and Houston, right?
Fascinating sites beyond the Alamo
People come to the Alamo like moths to a flame, and that is not to hit one of the most directly recognizable locations in the South.

I just say that there are many other impressive sights to enjoy, and you don’t have to make a reservation like you in the Alamo.
When I aimlessly explored the city in search of hidden gems, I discovered what felt like a piece of Spain in the city center – San Fernando -Cathedral.
It is amazing and the Plaza that the Ankers anchors was almost cleared. Good luck with the Alamo …
The same can be said for the four of missions on San Antonio Missions National Historical ParkThe only UNESCO world heritage site in Texas:

- Conceptción
- San José
- San Juan
- Espada
Be sure to try it well for a led by Park Ranger tour For better insight, but even if you miss it, exploring yourself is more than worth it.
But if you are really ready for an adventure, view the timeless small town of Goliad, about an hour and a half away.
Luxury Lines The River Walk

If you are a first-timer, you can introduce your San Antonio as a dusty historic outpost with a overhyped river walk-not true.
San Antonio is a luxury city if you want. There is no shortage of chic stay along the maze of the river inner city for an unforgettable holiday.
I have had the pleasure of staying with 3 luxury hotels over the years and I strongly recommend them:
- Crockett Hotel – Founded in 1909, this hotel is practically a living museum steps from the Alamo
- Marriott RiverCenter – A towering hotel with a great swimming pool on the roof connected to the Mall Rivercenter Mall, just steps from the River Walk
- Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa (not in the city center) – The perfect hiding place away from city life with a lazy river, golf simulator and championship golf course
