The Dominican Republic is emerging as the fastest growing Caribbean destination Mexican travelersdriven by a boom in destination weddings, expansion of air routes and increasingly competitive fare prices.
According to recent traveler segment data shared by Dominican tourism analysts, remote-friendly resort infrastructure combined with premium wedding-based tourism packages has redefined the traditional travel corridor from Mexico to the Caribbean. The trend is especially pronounced in Punta Cana, where all-inclusive wedding partnerships between airlines, resorts and hospitality providers are gaining popularity among families and event planners.
Mexican airlines, including Aeroméxico and low-cost regional long-stay operators, have introduced expanded connections to Santo Domingo and Punta Cana during the 2025-2026 booking periods, supporting growth in leisure travel, weddings and long-stay group travel.
Destination wedding planners note that bundled pricing models for ceremony locations, guest accommodations, photo and video production and airport transfers have helped consolidate the Dominican Republic’s market share among Mexico’s outbound travelers.

Dominican authorities express confidence that Mexico has surpassed Chile, Brazil and Argentina in wedding-driven tourist growth to the country in the last quarter of 2025. Resorts indicate that guest bookings associated with wedding groups have shown a higher average length of stay than conventional tourism, often ranging from five nights to an average of between seven and ten nights.
Industry analysts note that while comparisons like “Cancun vs. Punta Cana resorts from Mexico” have already saturated search territory, wedding-focused Dominican travel stories remain relatively underreported in mainstream U.S. media. Editorials around package transparency, guest logistics and seasonal pricing benefits are expected to attract significant traffic from Spanish and English wedding searches.
The wave underlines a broader shift in Caribbean tourism strategy – from broad leisure marketing to curated experiences driven by milestone events, community networks and the culture of long-stay travelers.
